Ok, fair enough. I didn't see that you were specifically addressing me and only glazed over the post.
The response to the inquiry will reverberate with a finger pointing contest with the question being, "Who started it?..." While I've made my arguments for why I believe Zionism started the current conflict, in the contemporary condition that doesn't matter. Israel has the State it does and until there are significant political changes in the US and greater Middle East that is not going to change.
Rather I'll point to the current condition and say that settlements are illegal under the 4th Geneva convention and are cited by the Palestinians as their #1 obstacle in accepting a two-state solution. If all settlements were pulled back from and a return to the 1967 borders was accepted by Israel, I would say the onus was on the Palestinian leadership if they decided not to accept such a proposition.
