In the wake of a tabloid report alleging that he molested several underage girls while he was a teenager, reality-television star Josh Duggar said Thursday that he “acted inexcusably” and was “deeply sorry” for what he called “my wrongdoing.”
The 27-year-old Duggar, a high-profile member of the evangelical Christian family that stars on TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” also resigned his post with the conservative Family Research Council.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret,” Duggar said in a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday. “I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation.
I'm surprised, yet not surprised.
I suspect there are other skeletons in the closet, which we all have. But if you are going to point fingers at others its so much worse when your own secrets come out.
Never watch their show but I know they are known as a loving Christian family. This revelation only reveals that they are no different than any other family. Very sad for the sisters that were molested.

Are you asserting that molestation happens in every family?
No. I was trying to say that most families have skeletons in their closet and not necessarily molestation.
All families have drama. Molestation isn't drama. Its a symptom and a sign of larger issues at play within the family. Explaining it away as typical family dysfunction negates the damage Mr. Duggar inflicted on 4-5 of his own female siblings. It does the same for all other men and women who were molested by family members. It isn't a normal thing and shouldn't be explained away as such.
We cannot sustain a healthy world by people who believe its their right to procreate as they see fit. It comes down to... reasonableness in all aspects of life...
I look at the mother as simply a breeder...with some excellent organizing skills thrown in
In discussions with others I have come to similar conclusions as other posters... something isn't right with this picture
We see public snippets that generally put the family in a positive light.. as seasons continue there will be more and more drama to hold the audience .. after all..we only have 19..and the girls can only deliver babies so many times before the audience switches over to ..what is it.. naked and afraid?
And now they are rewarded...
Ah.. America ..what a beautiful place

I agree with your post but I wasn't trying to explain anything about this family.
