It is not only Medicare either. Preventive care is mandated for private health insurance plans also under the ACA.

These are not driving up the costs of health insurance? Get rid of all the unnecessary testing.
yes! because it's so much cheaper to treat diabetes, high blood pressure & heart conditions after they have gone undiagnosed and untreated for years- you betcha

Government just needs to get out of the health care industry. They make things more costly in everything they get control of.

There are two separate issues here. One is preventive care which is good. It is cheaper to catch and treat something earlier on or to change something so that the problem doesn't happen in the first place.

The second is running every conceivable test imaginable mostly to cover yourself in case of a lawsuit. That cost has to be addressed.

Show me where 'running every conceivable test imaginable' is covered under preventative care. And if you go to a Doc who orders unnecessary tests I think it's your responsibility to find one who won't do that.

Certain people should skip any preventative care and go back to sleep.

The last article in a nut shell states that the problem was exaggerated to start with but many of those that didn't have insurance still will not have insurance.

I said it was two separate issues didn't I? That said, very few are going to know what is necessary and what is redundant.

Or people could just pay out of pocket for many of these things. A recent blood sugar screen cost us a grand total of $3 in lab work fees. I see no need to have insurance for something like that. Blood pressure is checked routinely at any doctor visit.
