There are dozens of weird militias who have been salivating at the thought of fighting Evil Guvmint for decades. Like the Maoists of my youth. And like the Maoists of my youth, they appear to spend most of the time wrangling with each other about who is the real deal. The major difference is, they're much better armed.

All I know is that I put absolutely nothing past the government of the US, however I do not think Obama could get enough supporters to pull off Martial Law! Even his own secret service people wouldn't take a bullet for him! Look how many security incidents at the White House there has been since he moved in, lol!
Many of the right wing nutjobs have diverted their attention to supporting the horse's rear known as trump.
If it keeps them from shooting innocent citizens in church and at a movie - plus gets him the RWNJ (GOP) nomination, thus insuring their loss in the general election... what's not to like?
ATTN: tea party nutjobs... please direct you attention to trump. Ignore his billions of dollars and multiple divorces and multiple bankruptcies. He's one of you. He's the only option you have to support this time. He's better for you than palin and joe the plumber combined.

I guarantee the secret service would take bullets for him. As far as martial law-absolutely he could if it was called for.
I know this might surprise you, but his favoribility rating is at 46%. And the "security incidents"? That has more to do with whackadoodles being whackadoodles.
1. I would doubt that the secret service has much love for Obama.
2. Of course a president could call martial law.
a. to enforce martial law, one would need a police and military force to enact it
b. most of the police and military would not comply with such an order
c. most of the police and military oppose Obama and would most likely turn on him
3. Most of those who view Obama favorably are not in the police or military
4. Most of those who view Obama favorably do not have guns
5. The flip side is 54% do not view Obama favorably.
6. An occupation force has to eat, sleep and drink water eventually. Occupying a nation of 350 million would require a force much larger than the US could muster.
7. No force would engage the US military or police initially in marshal law. Allow a more powerful entity to occupy, settle in, and make the superior weapons useless.
8. A call for "martial law" by Obama would undoubtedly result in his being escorted from the White House in chains.
9. We are not going to have "martial law" in my lifetime- I think it is a very far fetched, unlikely scenario, barring a major, major natural disaster.
