So OP, can you explain to me what this vote will accomplish? Hawaii stays a state of the US but the whole state becomes an Indian reservation like every other Indian reservation in the US? If so, what's gonna happen to the rest of the population that ISN'T Native Hawaiian? Keeping in mind that most non-native long-term residents in Hawaii are Chinese, Filipino, and Japanese and not whites

Hawaii is an American state. Most of the people living there are American citizens. Things that go on in Hawaii fall under both the federal and state jurisdiction. The sovereignty of an American state is explicitly an American issue.

Again, I'd be fine if a super-majority of all people on Hawaii wanted the islands to be a sovereign state of letting them have what they want but if you think you should have political power because your great-grandparents were born on the islands while your neighbor should be disenfranchised because their great-grandparents were born in the Philippines or in Kansas or in etc. ... for the sake of politeness and rules against profanity I'll refrain from being explicit in my opinion.

LOL, and they have a high rate of welfare. Hey, it could be a good thing, we won't have to fund them.

what would the vote accomplish? tough sell. if the vote happens a group of people will talk and decide Hawaii's future.. A puppet? as with OHA and DHHL now

other nationalities, as was with the Kingdom of Hawaii, it was a mix of Hawaiian nationals many had different ethnic back grounds. stay in hawaii, it would be like staying in any foreign country.

Right now, the US is having a hard time hiding the fact the Hawaii is illegally occupied. The lawful document have been brought forth to show the illegal occupation. Thus they have been eager to put something foward as to form of Hawaiian Gov. to legitimize the US presents in the island. Like in many other parts across the world the US puts a puppet in only to decimate the country.

every treaty any Native American tribe had sign with the US was messed up IMOP. why did they have to sign anything if everything belonged to them? After doing so they still got it in the arshe...

Hawaii never signed off.... so the US has no claim. when looking at it at a legal and constituional prospective, Hawaii is Occupied.

You still haven't explained your goal. Kick out the non-native-blood residents and confiscate their property?

Many Native would not need state asstiance if the state and feds would pay up. The feds pay nothing for use of the lands they occupy.

But more than 20 years after a state law promised funds to help native Hawaiians, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs is still fighting for the money in a dispute that stretches from the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani on Jan. 17, 1893, to rulings in Congress and the courts, with no end in sight.

The issue is revenues from ceded lands.

Ceded lands are crown or public lands that were ceded to the new Republic of Hawaii after the overthrow of the monarchy, then to the Territory of Hawaii after U.S. annexation of the islands in 1898, and finally to the new state of Hawaii in 1959. They make up about 1.4 million acres, or 95% of state-owned lands.

sorry if you think that way, no natives need not leave. whats most important that lands need be back in its rightful hands. The military stole allot of it, the state who is mandated by law to mange it is doing a **** poor job along with selling it.

Sounds logical for natives to expel the invaders and reclaim the property stolen from them.
