Cost efficient, it's around $2-3 Million per detainee to keep them in Guantanamo.
That's the price we pay for holding innocent people against their will. If there was evidence that these individuals had committed terror acts, they would have been charged long ago. The whole thing is a black eye on the USA.
Threats that it funds, trains, directs and invents. "protecting" us by inventing evil guys to "protect" us from so they can then steal more of our rights under the guise of "protecting" us. See right through it. Don't cry when shoe is on other foot for America. Unfortunately I doubt the freedom fighters of the world are going to care to divide the evil corrupt government that controls and dictates policy from the people that are forced to sit by and can do nothing to stop them. They will take revenge against us all. Can't say I blame them really just sucks we all must perish for the stupidity of our government.
After 24 years doing super secret missions in the Navy/Submarines/&support for aoec ops, I am glad to have our stupid government protecting us from threats. You my friend have some skewed views of reality.
Have a nice day..

"protecting" us from threats like Al Qaeda and ISIS that THEY funded,armed,trained....that makes no sense. Its quite easy to find the history and links between the US government and "terrorist" groups they USUALLY used to either fight the USSR or other dictatorships in the countries or for some other reason like causing so much chaos it gave the US regimes enough BS to stand on to make the people believe we needed to invade that country. The ones that aren't aligned with AQ and ISIS or other "terrorist" groups are pissed off because the US bombs hospitals and homes, weddings, schools etc and doesn't expect people who have lost everything to want to get revenge? What a shallow world view most Americans have.

Never been over there + no security clearance = no clue of what you're talking about.

The threat is the US its self. Try leaving people the hell alone and INVENTING enemies and you wouldn't get real enemies then.
Not really. Invading countries and expecting everyone to welcome the US with open arms is laughable. Dropping nukes on countries and then trying to lecture other countries about human rights is laughable. Same goes for waterboarding.
