Take a look at the lyrics for the song I'm A Good Ole Rebel.

This came out during Reconstruction. Much of the sentiment created in that era has remained in the South to this day.

Oh, I'm a good old rebel,
Now that's just what I am,
And for this yankee nation,
I do not give a damn.
I'm glad I fought a ganner,
I only wish we won.
I ain't asked any pardon for anything I've done.

I hates the yankee nation and everything they do.
I hates the declaration of independence, too.
I hates the glorious union, t'is dripping with our blood.
I hates the striped banner, and fit it all I could

I rode with Robert E. Lee,
For three years, thereabout.
Got wounded in four places,
And I starved at point lookout.
I catched the rheumatism
A campin' in the snow.
But I killed a chance of Yankees
And I'd like to kill some more.

3 hundred thousand Yankees
Is stiff in southern dust.
We got 3 hundred thousand
Before they conquered us
They died of Southern Fever
And southern steel and shot
I wish there were 3 million
Instead of what we got.
I can't pick up my musket
And fight 'um down no more
But I ain't gonna love 'um
Now that is certain sure
And I don't want no pardon
For what I was and am
I won't be reconstructed
And I do not give a damn

Bolded above^ Yep because racists and bigots never got out of government! Underlined above ^ More proof Once Civil war ended..Racial War did not CHANGE!!

Funny how you can point a finger at something and ignore the reason for it existing. KKK was formed to keep southern women from being attacked and raped. Watch your news and see how often that is still going on.
BBM^^ Is a total fabrication on YOUR PART..Something someone in your life taught you to believe..Bottomline BS!!

My responses in RED ^^

You can't possibly believe this.

Only Ignorant people are offended by that flag. 99% dont even know where it came from. And, the USA Flag was flown the whole time slavery was legal.....Not the Battle Flag so many attribute to hate and slavery, the truly IGNORANT believe it represented at the time and now.

I always knew there was a reason I never wanted to visit the south.

This makes no sense. Of course the Stars and Stripes were flown BEFORE slavery became illegal. The confederate battle flag came about because of the war. It didn't EXIST before the war!

I also beg to differ about your 99%, also. Did you take a poll or something?

I not only believe it. History proves it. The war of northern aggression was the fault of the north and I don't know how some of you have been so protected from the truth that you don't have a clue. We had our homes and towns burned, our women raped and much more than that. Some of you act like the Union Army was a group of church leaders but they were vile mean people. There is nothing we in the south have to apologize for. We got back up and went back to work and built our states to such a good place that thousands in the north want to come live here every day. And we welcome those who are decent people. We don't speak to the others unless it is required.

Now we sit here and watch people in Baltimore, Ferguson, Chicago, Michigan, San Jose, etc. acting like a third world country and thank our lucky stars we live where we do and don't have to be around such uncivilized people.

The battle flag, which was specific to a state was not for pro slavery, but states rights... The USA and Lincoln didnt free the slaves, it used them.. Lincoln freed specific people that were former slaves in certain states. Pretty much a non deal for slaves in the south.
Regardless, Ignorance is the correct choice of words to direct at peoples offense to a flag that has no relevant threat or hate. Its media and ignorant fools that push that agenda
Do a poll, and if it wasnt for google, 99% is/would be accurate. Hell, most dont even know who the VP is.

And I'm not offended. To me, it's the flag of proud losers. That doesn't offend me at all. It's kinda funny, actually.
If I was under the delusion that the civil war was about slavery, I'd probably think the same way.
