I'm pretty well off and many of my friends and colleagues are millionaires. Hell, my dad went to Stanford.
She chose to get drunk. It's like driving while drunk. If you choose to do that, you increase your chances of bad things happening.
By "bad things happening," you mean driving drunk and hitting someone, killing someone, smashing someone's car, wrecking other people's property. Those are things a drunk person does TO someone else. The drunk person is at fault and breaking the law. If I am mugged and robbed (something done TO ME), nobody says, "Well, were you drinking? Maybe you should have been more vigilant."
