You should be skeptical of everything you read online including this thread. There are so many so called "articles" online that are nothing but click bait and junk. Many online "news sources" are nothing more than cheap tabloid knock offs, and this is particularly true in the UK. Professional journalism is fading quickly from our world. Middle-aged Mom certainly did not rush to any kind of defense of this supposed act. See how your words twisted what she said? Of course, if this happened, it's completely disgusting and a horrific act. But please, be smart and consider the source and read carefully.
I googled the topic and it's been picked up by a few media outlets. just because something is not on AP or CNN first, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The problem here is they don't observe YOUR version of Sharia, only THEIR version.
Now you can make as many excuses as you care to for these demonic maniacs, but it will change nothing, and only facilitate more inexcusable atrocities.
Furthermore, it is intellectually dishonest, immoral, and just plain stupidity to make excuses for the inexcusable. The insinuation that such atrocious behavior isn't exclusive to Islam, ignores modern realities, where we don't see the other world religions waging an open war against humanity.
Citing the crimes and atrocities committed by other religious fanatics in the distant past doesn't place them in the same club as the current crop. Attempting to do so is a complete fraud.
