In 2008, the Republican elite (ie the Koch Brothers and their ilk) thought that is was funny that uneducated, working class and poor whites were doing their dirty work by running around calling Barack Obama everything but a child of God. But the wildfire started by the racist Tea Party Movement and the Birthers is now out of to control and is burning the GOP down to the ground.

Absolutely spot on.

That's what is so beautiful about Trump, and why I like him winning the nomination. The GOP had the crazies in Congress doing everything they could to block Pres. Obama from being successful (and repairing the serious damage inflicted by Bush/Cheney) and in the process this gave rise to a populist, xenophobic and nationalist leader named Donald Trump.

Winning the GOP nomination is the equivalent of arming him with a flamethrower, and GOP leaders either have to openly admit defeat and say they won't be voting for him, or get behind him and support someone who can incinerate them, either purposefully or accidentally.

It's better to have white people throw gasoline on a political party than poor, uneducated blacks burn down towns when they don't get what they want.

How so? The results are the same.

And its exactly the mentality above that the GOP should blame for its demise.

The Koch brothers truly bemoan having to rely on "low quality" Republicans to maneuver the GOP. They hated having to appeal to the lowest common denominator and assumed that the low brow Tea Party/Sarah Palin type crowd would by appeased by carrying racist signs, making racist cartoons and driving around in their pickup trucks with gun racks and Nobama bumper stickers.

At this point, the whole system stinks and needs to be torn down and reconstructed. Not many Americans have the stomach for what that entails however... Hard work, honesty, integrity, equal participation, willingness to endure, sometimes doing without and lots and lots of patience.

Not gonna happen. We need instant gratification, and that seems to come in the form of selected progressively more awful candidates to run the country, often as a punishment to the opposing side.

I will participate in this election, but I'm not going to pretend for a second that either candidate is qualified or gives a rats ass about the common citizen.

Hillary belongs in prison, and Bernie belongs in Cuba or Venezuela.
