How can we trust you? Louisiana Hwy 90 is undivided.
How can I trust that oncoming traffic stays in their lane and doesn't hit me head-on?
Honestly, it's a silly thread.
beyond silly
makes one wonder if we've officially run out of topics LOL
To keep down some of the inevitable posts by knee-jerk folks, I have been an owner and a shoot since 1965. I'm retired Navy with a good deal of trigger time. I still shoot at a local range, as does my wife. Now, I hope we can carry on...
It's a simple question: How do I know I can trust you with that gun you're carrying?
Like others, I'm not sure yet where you're going with this, but at this stage of the discussion the only answer is - you don't.
But how important is that? When I'm crossing the street at a crosswalk, how do I trust the drivers not to run the red light and hamburgerize me? When I'm driving on a county highway, how can I trust the oncoming drivers not to pass out in an alcoholic stupor and hit me head-on? Answer is, I can't trust them, but that's just the way it is, and whether I trust them or not ultimately has no bearing on how I conduct myself, other than to perhaps make me more attentive to my surroundings. I would say the same thing applies to your scenario, but I'm still looking forward to seeing where you're taking this.
Since you are making snap judgements, why should I trust an OPANA user?
It says "Opana Pointer," not "Opana User." I suspect it has more to do with radar installations in Hawaii than narcotics.

Give him a minute. I'm confused right now too, but he's a pretty bright guy and a deep thinker. I suspect he's going somewhere with it. I would not be so quick as others are to assume he's alluding to... well... what everyone seems to think he's alluding to.

I know exactly what it says. Make a silly thread/question, receive a ridiculous answer.

when you see someone that is armed in public, what does your gut feeling tell you about them? as a trained observer, you should have your own gut feelings about the person who is carrying. are they acting irrationally? are they acting in an uncivilized manner? are they constantly reaching back and touching their gun? what actions are they taking that lead you to believe, or suspect, that they may have nefarious intentions in mind?
So many "how dare you!" and "I'll do what I damn well please" posts already.
Tell me, if you were the unarmed person, why would you trust the armed people in the room?
I'm unarmed. I sold my .45 and shotgun 2 years ago. I have a ccw and I don't carry.
So why should I trust those who may have a ccw? Because the applied, tested, and passed the state requirements. Matter of fact I know (I went back and counted) 18 people with ccw. 5 routinely carry (work in rough areas), 9 don't, and 4 of us don't even own a firearm.

The same way we trust people who pilot automobiles.

If you don't trust guns in the hands of others, it's probably idea for you to get your own just to be safe.
