The current problems in America have been a long time coming. The main reason is that we have been weak (i.e. tolerant) on crime.
If Trump wants to win, then he needs to be consistent that CRIME, and TERRORISM, will not be tolerated.
If you break the law, then you suffer the consequences.
Police are NOT above the law! If they break the law, then they should be held accountable too. yes, this is a difficult task.

There is a BIG difference between intentionally shooting police at random... and, making a bad decision in the heat of the moment. In almost every case where police killed a black "suspect", it was NOT premeditated.
I'm no fan of cops, but it's common sense to cooperate and show respect when you encounter a policeman.

We can't tolerate lawlessness in our country!

I think its time that we take the planned parenthood money and use it to hire top-notch police.
No... this money does NOT go to additional pay raises for a few chiefs of police. Better trained cops when allowed to do their jobs... things will improve.

Why look to the President to crack down on local crime? That is a local problem.

While we should always be trying to lessen crime, go back and look at the number of crimes during Reagan and Bush Sr's years - - it's not even close. Under Reagan, there were always at least 18,000 US murders, and in five out of eight years, there were over 20,000.

Under Bush Sr, three out of four years there were more than 23,000 murders per year.

There has never been more than 15,500 murders per year during the Obama years.

Those numbers are even more stark when you remember the population of the US when these presidents left office:

Reagan: 245 million.
Bush Sr: 255 million.
Obama: 319 million.

i do agree with you on this, but we do have to be careful in HOW we crack down on crime. LEOs cannot be heavy handed or the feeling will be that we live in a police state. on the other hand we cannot be seen as soft on crime either.

as for better trained cops, for the most part they are well trained already, though on going training and cracking down on overzealous cops also needs to happen.

Rudy Giuiliani implemented Broken Windows theory in NYC in the 90s, which is why crime had decreased and quality of life has improved during his tenure as mayor.

Murder hit the 24,000 mark twice. Bush Sr in 1991, and Clinton in 1993. Murder has been dropping from 1994 onward. In 2014, 14,249 murders. This is the lowest raw number of murders seen since 1969.

The highest murder RATE, however, between 1960-now, was recorded in 1980, at 10.2 murders per 100,000. 2013-2014, was the lowest murder rate ever recorded, 4.5 murders per 100,000, as a nation.

Absolutely.

Should I assume you believe local municipalities should decide if they want to allow their police to pull people over for minor offenses like not signaling lane changes?
