Obama wanted to curb gun violence but unfortunately the time in office when he did have control of the House he was dealing with the economic destruction of the American economy---which Bush refused to do anything about, washing his hands of intervention prior to leaving office.
Once Obama was inaugurated, McConnell, Ryan and a group of GOP leaders vowed to do all in their power to stymie any legislation he tried to pass---to make him a one term president.
Fortunately they didn't keep him from a second term but there was pretty much a deadlock in Congress on any meaningful legislation on any topic that would have given the Democrats a positive reflection come election time...
The ACA was one piece gained early on as was legislation to stop the free fall of the economy--like saving GM and bank bailouts...
You might not agree with those measures but the GOP certainly had nothing to offer in place of them--
As we saw after Trump's election when they tried and failed to "kill Obamacare" and replace it with their own "better" "cheaper" health care system...

This is list of the EO President Obama effected by 2013 because Congress led by the GOP would do nothing about gun violence...
https://www.forbes.com/sites/rickung.../#3a734fc82312

Trump lies when he says Obama could have done something --- he tried but the NRA bought off too many GOP politicians to achieve any meaningful legislation---even after Sandy Hook---
platitudes were the GOP panacea

This is the author's assessment of Obama's EOs--
It does not appear that any of the executive orders would have any impact on the guns people currently own-or would like to purchase- and that all proposals regarding limiting the availability of assault weapons or large ammunition magazines will be proposed for Congressional action. As such, any potential effort to create a constitutional crisis—or the leveling of charges that the White House has overstepped its executive authority—would hold no validity.

Q: How do you know when Trump is lying?

A: When his lips are moving.

My favorite part of the whole event was the "Lock her up," chant.

Such petty, spiteful nonsense that could well come back to bite them. After all, it's not Clinton's associates who are under investigation for for conspiring with Russians to steal the election and who are, at this very moment, making deals with the feds.

Now remember, these are the voters who maintain they were absolutely not influenced by Russian disinformation, and propaganda. No sir. They made their minds up all by themselves.

Then go to 1:10, listen to the them chant, and ask yourself, "What are these people thinking?"

That Sessions is just lax on the job?

But back to Trump. (Don't we always?)

Go to 2:25 where Trump reads a story about a talking snake. "You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in."

Freudian slip?

Trump has used that song/story for while--on campaign trail to get his crowds riled up
It is part of his routine--

And to my thinking--Trump is the snake and the woman the snake "enthralled" and then strikes is the American populace who have bought into his lies----his business success, his ability to solve problems, his strength as POTUS, his desire to "heal" America....
The snake lived up to his nature and Trump is living up to his---
And his supporters whether they understand the danger the snake poses to them or not (and they obviously don't see his danger) are going to be his victims...

PS==the crowd at CPAC were not conservatives in the past sense of the word and political philosophy
They were Trumpsters---totally different breed of nut

The final speaker was woman who wanted to speak on topic of #MeToo movement and how the GOP should reconsider its reaction to women who have suffered from sexual harassment (and worse) and speak out about men who do the abusing, personally, politically, legally---
She was booed down...
Forget her name but reputable, long-respected conservative writer who has supported GOP political agenda for years...
The people who chanted "lock her up" and booed that woman to a standstill are "deplorables", rabble, conspiracy nuts----they used to have NO platform, were on the fringes of any mainstream political party--
They were the John Birchers and people w/o any standard but maybe the KKK and ridiculed by any legitimate news media and voter really
Not so any more...
Scary, scary, scary....

POTUS has now lied about the latest FISA memo.

POTUS, Staff and family lying about Russia and money laundering as well as the collusion issue each and every day.

All the issues coming out in the indictments go back to the Campaign as well as the transition . It will not be long till it comes into the Current Admin.

I don't know what universe Devin Nunes lives in that he can lie about what his memo "proved" that the Democratic memo didn't reveal as false...
And the fact that Paul Ryan has not reined him in and taken him out of a leadership role is telling as to what level of ineptitude GOP leadership is willing to accept sucking up to Trump
As much as anything that alone tells me there is plenty of evil-doing for Mueller to discover in the ranks of Congress--either via taking Russian money or ties to lobbyists that are illegal

I wonder if Nunes could even tell the truth about whether it is raining or not
He is a classic example of someone who has not only drunk the Koolaid, but had gone on to sell the virtues of drinking the Koolaid...
The people who want to believe him and Trump and all the other Trump supporters are just doomed and no amount of new information or facts or people willing to have a dialogue about differences between GOP and Dems or Trump supporters and opponents is going to work...

This really is a zero sum game...because persuasion is not an option...
It is like a religion---you have to have faith because there is nothing concrete about religion that can prove God is real or that there is a Paradise or Heavan waiting for the "righteous" after death...
Maybe that is one reason so many of the evangelical community choose to believe Trump who certainly has never really lived a Christian life...he only touts its precepts as part of his marketing spiel...

These people require "reprogramming" like people have to go through after they are sucked into some weird proslytizing commune...Stockholm syndrome writ large is what has enveloped the GOP and people who refuse to admit there is a legitimate threat posed by Trump and his agenda and his supporters...

POTUS has had a rough weekend. Friday not good then Saturday release of the Democrat memo.

So what does POTUS do? Why he calls up some people and lies the weekend away.

POTUS, Staff and family are really getting nervous, the walls are starting to close in.
