We had 15 here yesterday. Every last one politically the same. We're all tired of it, didn't speak about it, and we spent the day facetiming with about 50 others who couldn't spend the day with us. I got to see my 2-year-old granddaughter enjoying her first major Thanksgiving with her other grandmother in Chicago (liberal family) and it was a joy. What did we do without real-time video chat? It makes it so much easier for my son and daughter-in-law when they can enjoy their holidays and neither side of the family feels left out......

Hah-yeah we facetimed our 93 year old Nana, and other relatives.
I started things out by giving my 100% true blue Democratic mother in law a card. She was like "it's not my birthday, what's this for" She opened it and it was a sympathy card signed very sorry for your loss, Donald Trump
She even laughed, and she normally has no humor for this. Really cut the tension, even the liberal idiotic aunt and uncle thought it was funny. When I saw them laugh I decided not to attack them like I had planned and we had a good time after that.
Why would you attack them, do you not know how to socialize with others?
Our family barely talked politics at all. There are a multitude of other topics to discuss. We usually end up telling stories about mishaps all of us kids had gotten into while growing up. Even when politics is discussed, while we can get loud about it, we still respect each other & we're family, we're not going anywhere.
Typically the loudest mouths about politics are the liberals in the family. Of course this year we had the best dinner without a mention about Obama or gmo foods. No mention of any politics this year, thank goodness.
I spent Thanksgiving with a bunch of hardcore Hillary supporters (my side of the family + my husband) and hardcore Trump supporters (husband's side of the family).
From what I gleaned from our brief foray into politics, I was the only one there who didn't vote for either those 2.
It was certainly a lively discussion, but the food was excellent and we all love each other anyway.
