We should be focusing on science, technology, education & not get played by media. Cant remember the last time I heard news about something I really care about like technology. Even entertainment websites like buzzfeed & award shows are politicizing everything. We are so ignorant & backward.
A couple of weeks ago they were showing a live feed of two astronauts outside the space station doing repairs. It was so cool. I posted it on FB and said, "Drop the political stuff for a minute folks, and check this out." It was amazing. You could see South America below them as they worked.

Got a lot of Likes so I guess other people are stick of the stupidity, too.

Why stop there. If they really want to show solidarity with the religion of peace, they should cut off their clitorises.

Lol, he's the type I call "the guy at the end of the bar". You go into any shot-and-beer place and there's that guy sitting at the end of the bar for hours just yelling out random nonsensical things to whomever is in the vicinity.

There's an equivalent on message boards.

I merely offered another perspective of something I'd read. I wasn't defending the wearing of the hijab or arguing that women have less rights in those societies. Well, DUH. yeah, and water is wet. I was just offering information for the sake of people learning something. You may be right. You may be wrong, because unless you can tell me otherwise, neither of us has experienced living in Egypt.

The point remains that the woman, who is intelligent and involved in her country's government and culture said wearing the hijab helped her to reach her goals. I found it interesting. Not everything is something to be shrieked about and argued over. Sometimes it's good to just think and learn when new information is offered. It can help promote UNDERSTANDING of people in other cultures. Isn't that a worthy goal?
Understanding with no critical thought process is not a worthy goal IMO and just condones misogyny. Some people might feel that even disagreeing with some Egyptian woman is bigotry. But lets just stop and think for a second. Its obvious that in a highly misogynist society like Egypt its best for women to follow the rules of the game if they want to succeed in that society. That obviously means singing the praises of the hijab. Lets not kid ourselves.

Oops, no, that was FedEx.

Neh, neh, I stepped on your lawn when you weren't looking...

I understand what you are saying. I can observe it detached from any strong moral judgment, but that's me and how I think. It doesn't mean your way of thinking is wrong.

If it affected me or my daughter personally; e.g., if we were being forced to wear a hijab, I would not be detached, but for purposes of education and gathering of knowledge, I don't think that way.
