I will say that all this does have the scent of treason about it. Treason inspired by unbridled greed for wealth and power. The Trump crime family is worse than the mafia ever was. So much nepotism - putting family and personal friends in high office and no one calling them out on all this. The right is thrilled to be in power and Country be damned.
The sad part is they do not even really try hiding it all that well or they really are that stupid. Either way there is a storm brewing in the Whitehouse and no matter what this is not going to go well.
I don't think Trump is that complicated a guy. I can see him not being part of some big espionage scheme because is that really the kind of thing Trump would have the patience for?
He's used to ignoring protocol and doing what he wants. He comes from a privately held business empire. He's always treated established laws as something to work around, and he's never observed the traditions of the world he was raised in.
I think he got into office, got annoyed by Russia probes, and tried to get his new "employees" to do his bidding and get rid of what he saw as an annoying waste of time spearheaded by his enemies. To the degree he was even aware of tradition he'd likely ignore it.
Still technically obstruction though.
I think there is a lot of truth in this ^^^^^. Donald Trump is not sophisticated or bright, and he has never had anyone to answer to his entire life. If he wanted something done, he bulldozed his way through it, and if things went south, he got his Attorneys to bail him out, or he went bankrupt.
He probably felt he could kick everyone out of that room and have a little one on one with Comey and there would be no harm. Same with keeping Americans out of that little meeting with the Russians, how could that not be ok ?
Most rational people would understand by now that there is a right and wrong way to do things when you are dealing with laws and ethics, but Trump just puts his head down and charges right in. The problem is, he should be learning how to correctly do things by now, but he is reluctant to follow any rules......he sees himself as above all of that.
Trump does not get it, "De-Regulation is a Devastator". Capitalism only works for all society, when a system is governed and regulated.
A system Void of Regulation is doomed; Greed sets in, hoarding takes over, and money does not circulate, value is eroded, inflation sets in and the buying power of money declines, while everything else erodes... We see the results all Across America.
It isn't a matter of not "getting it." To the exent he is capaple of coherent thought these days, he just doesn't care. Nor did he ever - even when he had his wits about him. Just as long as he isn't hurt - it's all good.
America has shown its "WEAKNESS" by allowing Trump to exist in the Office of the Presidency ..
All Countries of the Globe is now aware of that, and they are pulling back and they will find a way to isolate themselves from any collateral fallout that Trump is destined to create.
It's amazing how the world once Respected the Claim of Intellect of American's, and Now, that claim has proven that it was wrong and it has exposed the saturation of weakness mixed with the broad aspect of Ignorance.
If this does not stop soon, there is no recovery of regaining that respect. Iraq, and previously in early time Vietnam and we cannot forget Afghanistan, has shown to THE WORLD, that the claim of Power of American bombs and bullets can't conquer any other nations. The world has watched Russia take what it wants, Fly its planes next to our ships, Fly its planes near out coast lines, and they have BOUGHT THE INFLUENCE OF OUR PRESIDENCY.
We sit idle and even his criminal evil looking Sons, now meet with the RNC, plotting even more, with no oversight that say's the collusion of Trump Business and Government is now complete and that gives Russia direct influential controls over the Once Powerful Nation of America.
We have a mass of backward minded, self consumed Republicans and deep core Right Wingers who pushed and promoted the weakness from within, and we are seeing the last days of what was once a Great Country. Trump and his Russian process and his undignified engagements of blatant Belligerence, dominated the entire Republican Party, and they used Russian Sponsored Hacking to attack the Democrats.
It's "WORST THAN WATERGATE", Watergate was done by a President pushing for political espionage internally, but Trump has brought in Foreign Russian Operatives to do that and more. Europe is plotting its back away because it knows Russia has long wanted to dismantle Europe and Now, Europe has watched Trump for the Last 9 days, promote the exact same Agenda that Russia outlined to do more than a decade ago.
If this has been any earlier time in history with the previous generations, Trump and All his Appointee never would have made it even to nomination, and considering the mess of today, previous Generations would have lined him, his family and all his Appointee's up before a Firing Squad, fully supported by the American Congress and the People.
The Russian system is a direct replication of what was the Confederacy, and the Confederate Alliances that Trump has installed, meets exactly with the Aims of Russia.
America people are passive and lost in word play, and all it demonstrates is we have an unaware media and a people who are of a Generalized Weakness.
If America is to survive, Trump has to be removed and out congress needs to wake up and get busy doing so. No more "let's play nice and let's play pretend", as if we can weather this madness. We cannot !!!!
Blame each and every one of us for this mess... and this will be the generation era that sit Idle and by apathy supported the Destruction of the American Democracy as it was once known.

Now all we have is mass advertising which gave us Google, Amazon, Ebay, and now people are lost in internet banking, which means ... access to money can be shut off like turning off a switch.
Go look at the Saving and Loans fall in the 1980's.. They simply locked the doors and people could not get their money.

Obama Tried to warn the people, he proposed build and rebuilding from THE BOTTOM UP and Right Wingers Attacked him at every program and proposal he put forth to empower the people and make a economically viable system that benefits the people. The wealthy convinced the Right Winger to be Replica's of the Confederacy Solders and Followers, and they attacked him at every turn and ever step.
Even the lone nuts have gone silent, as well as decades ago, even our own Intelligence Community would not have allowed this craziness to exist, they would have long ago resolved this situation before it escalated to this level of madness.
Now, we have to rely on Congress and the Voice of the America People, to Save America... Sadly, they are hung up in playing word games and posturing for the camera' as if they are void of the reality of the mess we are in. Our Congressional People can't even lock up Kushner and the rest of the subversives, and play word games and let them skate by, which is a deep sign or severe weakness.

The only thing left is for the newspapers to run the headline:"Trump Destroy's American", The Downfall Of A Once Great Empire. While the American people sit dumbfounded, with a fantasy illusion they could weather the madness as it tumbles into the History Books as a "Once Great Nations" Destroyed by the Vile of a Megalomania Money Mad Man and his Family.
North Korea which does not stand alone, it is supported by many, who has used it to demonstrate that we as a nation can't use WMD to stop them, and no other means will achieve it, because they have enough back channels to afford to continue their weapons system build up and there is nothing we can do.
They are the example that is showing the world, that the once powerful WMD deterrent does not work in the climate of today, because anyone who uses it, also seals their won doom. Iran has just been given the signal to start back their weapons programs, when Trump called for their Isolation at the NATO Gathering.
He is just that dumb, and the American people sit silent and void of understanding the implication of his Grandstanding Arrogance. His words to "Isolate Iran" served only as an statement which "embolden Iran 10 time more than it may have even considered".

I think you're right. He's utterly clueless about being president in particular, and governance in general. However, ignorance of the law is no excuse.
I am sure that Trump himself is not treasonous. I think some of his appointees are skating very close to the line though.
