Glad he was fired. I guess she and other students were acting up with the sub there. She wouldn't get out of the chair when told so he first threatened to do it, and then did it when she didn't listen.

There were hundreds of other methods this teacher could have used instead of this. Not everyone is cut out to be a teacher. Lesson learned.

Thus the quick reaction of the DOE.
Did the Jews also get a holiday as they are already a big voting block in NYC???

Did? Many decades ago. They got Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana and Passover (or did you not notice that Spring recess lined up exactly with it?).

What's going on in this country is that the politically-correct, social justice crowd is ruining it. I'm beginning to see why Mao and Stalin lined these types up and disposed of them after their slave revolution occurred.

Yes. substitute teachers not being able to physically rip students' clothing off is ruining the country.

Every public school student has all of those holidays off.

I had a teacher physically kick me. I got over it.
That in no way justifies the behavior.
So is it worthy of a headline? That's my point. So a muslim student was offended, it happens to everyone at some point. Ripping ball cap off a students head wouldn't earn a mention , but because the student was muslim it's a crisis.
The teacher was wrong and was punished for it.

They did indeed, unless the 'no headwear' rule was scrapped for ALL students. It wasn't. Discriminating against an Atheist, e.g., is religion-based discrimination.
