As for the actual comment... yeah. I'm not so sure it's fair to call these people liberals. There's a noticeable difference between modern liberals and classical liberals (generally, Democrats and Republicans respectively), but they are still part of the same intellectual movement. The idea that a modern liberal would refuse to hear out the argument of a classical liberal, or vice versa, is an illiberal idea. If you do not believe one person should be allowed to speak, you are not a liberal.

Classical liberals and modern liberals will disagree on the merits of welfare, the nature of equality, and a host of other policy issues. But the idea of freedom of expression is a liberal idea. If you oppose it, you aren't a liberal. You're something else. Now, a lot of these people, I genuinely don't know what to call them. I think they have a desire to be political, but never learned how. Which isn't that surprising; if education is viewed as a way to get a job above all else, it should come as no surprise that those who receive this education do not have even a basic understanding of civics and politics.
I know what to call them - progressives. At least that's what they prefer to be called, but a more accurate term is anti-capitalist or cultural Marxists. They are a tiny fringe of the left, with really loud voices and growing like a cancer. They need to be relegated to the fringes where they belong, because they are costing good Democrats elections, and I believe we should have a good balance.

He's of course right, there is a tyranny of group think going on at college campuses where morons settle discussions with things like "you make me feel......" and are thus bad. lol.

It's a fad that will pass, too embarrassing not to.
Or claim language is violence. That's a scary thought for someone to hold in a country based on freedom of speech. I'm not so sure it's just a passing fad either. We are heading to hate speech laws, which is antithetical to the constitution. People should not use hate speech because it's hateful, but a law against hateful speech could grow to include anything the government defines as hate, that many people do not consider hate.

I can see why people in today's world of social media would be attracted to the idea, but it's a slippery slope.

We can't legislate manners, but people should find them again.

I second this (just strike out Republican and put in Libertarian).

So please consider this a friendly disagreement.

In fact, hell...I might be wrong, I certainly have not had some of the experiences others have.

Just saying that from my origination in a very small town....to a large very"liberal" city....I saw more racism in the latter.

That might be the real issue though, lots of racist democrats that really aren't liberal in urban areas. If you want to question me on this one, you know I have more ammo than the marine corp.
No man... you don't understand the world or the nature of people any better than I do.

That said, I'm a partisan, not a fence sitter. I take sides....for better or worse.
