They got fired because CNN is a news organization, and they failed to follow the standards of the organization, which generally require multiple sources.
IE thats because CNN is a actual news organization that acts responsibly Or do you think CNN was wrong to do so?
Acts responsibly? You mean like when they colluded with the Hillary campaign?
Trump wouldn't know real news if it hit him in the face, I am waiting for just one retraction of his many lies. CNN at least owns up to the fact they got this one wrong and took action, maybe the White House should do the same.
" I am waiting for just one retraction of his many lies."
We waited over 8 years for you and your people to after Obama and Hillary for their mountain of lies.
Is outright lying justified in your view? O'Keefe is well known for heavily editing video in order to distort or change what someone actaully said. That is not "pushing the envelope," it's deception, plain and simple. That's why he has no credibility. You can't trust anything he puts out to be honest. When you see his unedited footage that becomes abundently clear.
So you think tampering with a Senator's phones in an attempt to illegally bug her office is no big deal? That says a whole lot about the kind of people the right will give credibility to as long as his deceptions are against your opponents. I guess to you attempting an illegal wiretap is just a case of the ends justifying the means, huh?
O'Keefe is only "well-known for heavily editing videos" among DNC lackeys who have never proven that allegation.
Thinking, reasonable people are capable of watching the video and comprehending what happens in the video. We also know that no matter what evidence is presented, liberal sycophants will discount it with no basis.
They should do a far, far, far better job of verifying stuff before they put it out there as news. Retractions very seldom get the type of traction need to remove the damaged created by the original story.
Given the amount of news that CNN puts out they don't do a lot of retractions to be honest. And of the retractions they do make, a surprising number of them also involves firing folks.
When asked, the DOJ says, "no comment." Why say that when a "no" would suffice?
It's such a common thing...haven't you seen the TV shows, news, etc where people say "No comment"? The investigation is ongoing, so they don't want to officially or legally say anything at all. It means nothing either way...not that he is, not that he isn't. Covering their bums, so to speak.

That's delusional thinking if one believes that spin story - they were threatened with a pending lawsuit. That's why they "urged" the three to "resign" and retracted the story. Let's not let facts get in the way of your thinking now.
The problem is the Trump Administration wants the media to report alternative facts.
The media reports facts. It is Trump that attempts to discredit them. He never really refutes the news stories other than adolescent name calling.
That is not the problem.
It doesn't matter what any POTUS wants. The job of the media is to report the facts.
It really is that simple. The media is at fault independent of what any POTUS desires.
