They don't love them that much. In terms of total viewers they are barely breaking 750,000 viewers. That is devastating considering where they used to be.

If it wasn't for cable subscriptions, where people are forced to pay for CNN whether they watch them or not, they'd be out of business.

Where I work (one of the big federal agencies in DC), they legally have to put CNN on in the lobby all day. They can't change the channel to any other news station.
