Looking back it was so tremendously odd that Trump was so critical of the intelligence agencies back in January, why unless he had something to hide. Normally a president would demand a complete investigation instead of fighting them.

The co-founder of a Washington opposition research firm that produced a dossier of salacious allegations involving President Donald Trump has finished his closed-door interview with congressional investigators.

The research firm, Fusion GPS, says co-founder Glenn Simpson “told Congress the truth and cleared the record on many matters of interest to congressional investigators.”

Simpson appeared privately Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, one of several investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and any possible collusion with Trump associates.

Fusion GPS hired the British intelligence officer who produced the dossier containing allegations of ties between Trump and Russia.

The statement released Tuesday by Simpson’s firm also criticizes the Trump campaign for trying “to smear Fusion GPS because of its reported connection to the Trump dossier.”

Trump was right that a more amiable relationship with Russia would be good. Not that Russia is isn't reprehensible in many ways, but it would be in OUR interests to have better relations. The Trump/Russia story has severely limited the potential for detente with Russia.
