Hurricane support groups

I would like to contribute to the Hurricane victims, however, I refuse to give to the Red Cross, and won't get into why? But, if anyone finds out a local Texas community or church that is giving, please, would you post here....
Thank you

Texting HARVEY to 90999 will send a $10 donation to the American Red Cross, http://www.redcross.org/
The United Way Flood Relief Fund is taking donations by texting UWFLOOD to 41444 and at https://www.unitedwayhouston.org/flood/flood-donation
The Salvation Army is accepting donations at 800-SAL-ARMY and http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/
Catholic Charities USA is also accepting funds via its website, https://catholiccharitiesusa.org/

Really, it seems like the only purpose to start this thread was to voice a displeasure with the American Red Cross, and refusing to say why. One would have to live in a cave devoid of any and all outside communication to not be able to figure out where to donate money for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Nevertheless, I will recommend the Houston Food Bank. There is also a local outfit (whose name I forget) that is devoted to helping the displaced animals.

Regardless of the motivation, it could be a useful thread for those seeking alternate ways to help. Smaller charities don't always get a lot of publicity, because the big ones are usually at the top of the search. For now, why not just take the request for information at face value?

People who want to help pets can do a lot if they are willing and able to foster some of these rescued animals until they can be reunited with their families. I so, so wish that we could do this, but we have a bit of a full house already.
