So for you child molesting is a crime and this is no big deal. It is very possible that his goal was to meet her in person like guys they used to catch on dateline NBC.
So, its right to charge and convict someone on what they might possibly do in the future?
BTW, that dateline show you referenced, was not exactly 'reality tv', it had writers, actors, scripts, just like every other show.
A high school coach named Kyle Cox (I know...) was sentenced 14 years for sexting a 15 year old girl and sending explicit photos. I don't know why the judge was harsher with Weiner (what IS it with these last names and sexting?) but we all know sentencing isn't always consistent.
Weiner has a big problem. Maybe knowledge of previous behavior played a part.
I don't know, sexting it isn't the worst "sex" crime in the world, 14 years in prison is a bit much for sending naked pics and texting with a teenager.
There was a guy a while back in one of the states where the age of consent is actually 18. I think most states it's like 16 anymore. Anyhow, he met this "woman" who looked older than she was, online. Met her at a bar for DRINKS, she even had a FAKE ID. She was in fact 17. She showed him this fake ID and everything and drank with her in a bar. He ended up having sex with her for money in a hotel. Her parents found out and he as charged and convicted of statutory rape. The court would not even hear the defense's argument of the girl lying. Their reason was that minors do not have the mental capacity or legal capacity to give consent, so there was no defense. In this case, I sort of felt sorry for the unlucky bastaaard. And this girl had been having sex with many people too. It wasn't like he was her first, she was very experienced and knew what she was doing.
The difference is Weiner, KNEW what he was doing. The girl told him she was 15 and he still went forward. He deserves what he got.

You really must like this guy. Not too many would defend a pedophile and convicted sex offender. Even convicts in prison consider them the lowest of the low. And you don't like the dateline predator show. Perhaps write him while he is in jail. He could use a penpal.
They were real perps that got caught on dateline. One even committed suicide afterwards. All reality TV has scripted elements to it.
They arrest these guys all the time because of what they want to do in the future with underage girls. They don't have to actually commit the act. If you read the details of the messaged he sent to her it appeared he was obsessed with her and it only ended because the girl told her high school teacher and her father. So not a stretch that if they kept contacting that he might have met her in person.
He is scum I agree he was going to try and escalate it if he had the chance. A guy can find what he wanted to see all over the internet it's not hard to find, it's a legal business for some women. He just has a thing for underage girls and comes across as a really creepy dude all around.
Even more flabberghasting, Hillary Clinton would have put him into the White House.
Well she was fine bringing Slick Willy back in there so her standards are pretty low as far men go, except for Trump who she was offended by.
