how many of the guns used in criminal attacks were gotten illegally? fact is most of them were.
and how many of these rampage killings were gang members shooting each other?
how many of these people are mentally defective that slipped through the system?
how many of these people could have been stopped early in their rampage if law abiding citizens had a firearm and the courage to use it?
when something like the las vegas shooting happens, the first thing people jump on is guns, and some demand more gun control. the person that did the shooting was known to police, so why was he not looked at a little more carefully? why was it possible for him to ship more than 500 rounds of ammunition to the hotel? why was he able to ship ten rifles, THAT HE MODIFIED for automatic fire to the hotel? apparently this is the kind of person that should have rang alarm bells when he checked into the hotel.
Who is Stephen Paddock, Las Vegas shooter?
so how was this guy, a convicted felon, able to get a hold of several firearms not to mention all the ammunition? and dont give me the garbage of not tough enough background checks, as if he went to a legit source to buy these guns, he would have been pegged immediately and refused the ability to purchase a firearm.
Guns are not the issue. The Swiss are well-armed, and they don't have anywhere near the amount of violence.
I think the real issue is how people are raised. The USA in general endorses treating their young like prisoners more than most other developed countries. People are raised that might makes right.
Cultivate that mentality, and don't be surprised if people grow up to be more violent here, or if they are unable to act right without having to be forced. It's what they're used to.
But they don't have any bullets. All ammunition is stored in armories. One has to make a special trip to get it.

we have way too many guns in America. Our obsession with guns is real and we need to have an honest discussion about it.
I mean, it's going to happen again. It's been happening for a while and will continue so the "we need to deal with everything BUT guns" isn't a good argument IMO.
We are a smart nation, well.. we used to be. I think we can do more than one thing at a time to try and minimize mass shootings and minimize gun violence.
you are right, my mistake it was his father that was a convicted felon.
