According to the opening post, the U.S. lost its voting power in UNESCO in 2013 due to non payment of dues. So what kind of power does the U.S. yield in the organization, without a vote and without contributing money?

Why would the other members care if the U.S. leaves? Shouldn’t the U.S. have done that back in 2013?

Such a drama queen announcement!

We had a different, more pro-Muslim President in 2013.

Actually, I’m sure that they didn’t.

And if they did, it didn’t work out too well, did it?

I’m sure it was planned that way ahead of time. People would complain either way, but probably more so if we were the followers instead of the leaders.

Either way, this is a good thing. These are not our friends.
Oh really? And who are our friends?

Should UNESCO run afoul of Turkey or France, would that also be grounds for a pullout?

Pro Muslim, as opposed to what?

Turkey is a little confusing. We used to arm Turkey, but now we arm the Kurds, but Turkey is our ally? I wonder if we still sell arms to Turkey?

No, but we don’t have any allies anyway.

I’m finally figuring out that the term “ally” is either someone who spends billions on American produced weaponry or a nation that provides us an ample pretext to go to war against a nation we don’t like.

NATO expansion was PURELY a cynical ploy to create customers for weapons sales. Poland, for example, is in no position to be our ally. They can’t help us with anything. Same for Ukraine. They can only get us in trouble by securing a commitment that we can’t guarantee. And no American I know will willingly die for either country. I know I wouldn’t.

This whole thing is an absurdity. We’re actually pulling out of UNESCO because they’re disagreeable to Israel. What an effin farce.

You are showing your true colors. See Is Israel of Strategic Value to the U.S. and the West? for my views.

I hope like hell that I’m showing my TRUE colors...those are the only colors that I want to show. And I want you to see them very clearly. Here...have a look!

What “strategic value?” If we weren’t traipsing around the Middle East looking for trouble, we wouldn’t need to be worried about any nation’s “strategic value” in the first place.

This country did just fine before 1948, just in case you didn’t know. We’d won two world wars quite convincingly. So find another lemming to fool.

How about Pluto, Eris, or Alpha Centauri?
