It is not about prevention, we as ordinary people can do nothing about that. That said if you live in Tornado Alley, in a coastal area where Hurricanes can and do occur, live where earthquakes are a possibility, or an area know for wild fires, then you should be prepared to deal with those issues. Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home or car, how about a spare tire in your trunk, yet never had a home fire or flat? Some simple steps can make the difference between you and/or your families survival, if something does happen how are you going to explain to them that you did nothing to prepare for it? Use some Common Sense and you will find that everyone should prepare for whatever may happen to the best of their ability, those that do not may very well be sealing their own fate. Think

As to Preparing...on a national level for political stability and national progress, it is a big matter, we are ill equipped at this time to deal with, and we have a disaster in our top administrations that makes that impossible at the present time, until he is removed from office and the administration is completely changed.

People must become more politically aware of what is America.
When the matter was the people "remained by selective choice" to be "politically ignorant" because they thrust that concern upon others, and thus elected people who who promoted the same elements that has brought down empire, and they experienced the same dysfunction, infighting in internal dismantling of their systems and the guards that had been built into during its height of power. All such things became taken for granted.
Debauchery of every sort, became the norm.... and the wealth and power chased vanity and stature, playing their roles of "money gatherers by any means", and when the falls began, the wealth gatherers "scattered themselves to other lands that provided a "safe harbor".
We can't see the forest for the trees, and then we claim the trees to be more than they are, until we even take them for granted.
Maybe one should look at the generalized society and the lowered use of technology as compared to other countries as they build they integrate the better of today's technology, which prepares them for a growth avenues.
We sit back and watch the wealthy, loot anything and everything, and now they promote a scheme to rob the nations resource banks of tax revenue, when the needed tax revenues to rebuild our nation and dismiss our debt, tells us, that our tax rate is not only too low, that we cannot afford to make any cuts. It also tells us, that the issue is not about cutting taxes, its about "greed in corporate profit"..
When what should be of number one concern is.. Increasing the Wages of American People.
When our Banks claim 4-8 BILLION or more profit every 3 months, after they'd shuffled and hid everything they could... if that does not tell us, that our problem in within the greed programming.
When we have a stock market that is destroying industries with its derivatives games, and over-levered us, beyond any remote level to meet such exaggerations... yet, we are not only politically ignorant, we are economic at the level of ignoramuses.... who are too full of lusting and gloating over the wealthy, that we line up with a rushed mentality to be fleeced day by day. Too bad, because this level of ignorance cannot be instantaneously fixed, and it likely may not even be fixable within the span of the next decade.
We don't rise on the global scale of education, we continue to fall.
We have a mass of people lusting after Trump as if the "Industrial Age" will return... When things have long ago moved on to the technical and digital age with automation and computer aided creation of parts and processes.

We failed to train people or even make them aware that the bulk needed to move on from the era of the 60's and 70's... mentality about what is "work". The 80's and 90's saw us move from the analog to the digital, even if we look at Music, it went from the old LP's to the Cassettes, to the CD and now to Streaming, but we got an introduction to this in the 1970's with the 8 trk tape.
Now, we see what? Cars that can drive themselves, the old system of Taxi Cab's that reigned supreme in for over 80+ yrs, to Uber and Lyft, and now the push is to get "driver-less cars" that function of a managed grid system, to manage efficiency without the need of human manpower behind the wheel, no need to go park at a fixed mass facility garage, but to stage itself on the Grid for the best performance accessibility to the patrons.
If Amazon is trying out a system to use digital locks on people homes to deliver goods, then what's next other than a driver-less car, with a robotic unit, that accesses the home and bring the goods in, and re-attach itself to the vehicle awaiting its next digital instruction.

Most people ignored the retirement of the Space Shuttle was followed by the Unit that stayed in orbit for very long time, and today... there's not much talk about what's up there, but something certainly is.
How can we catch up if we continue with this crazy elements of racist madness, ethic madness and fights against cultural diversity not only in american, but how America deals with the world of cultures.
We are due a global valuation change in how value of wealth of a nation is measured. Because we've long moved past the counting things in Millions and 10's or even 100's of millions.. We now count wealth in the billions, 10's of billions and 100's of billions, and on the Global Scale, we now have long past the state of dealing with single digit Trillions, we are into the age of double digit Trillions, and by 2025 we will be counting things in 100's of Trillions. The system of "wages" will move to a level, where Poverty wage will not be any part of the equation. Because factored for base cost, to include home, transportation, food, quality of life elements, and health and social stability, there will be a base level, that become understood as a necessity, or progress is stagnated.
We see the results to today, of wages that did not keep up with advancements, and we have nothing mroe than an expanding ghetto all across American, as well as in other nations, they too are experiencing the same.
Japan has figured something out. It went through the down-spiral, the wage stagnation and it found means to build back, not astronomical but to employ over 80% of their people between the ages of 20-60, and it has understood the need to push its Unions, to demand that profit increase the % of wages paid to the society, as a necessary component to growth. To avert spike and crash, and greed gouging, but to develop a system of economic interactive function. They can do it because, they don't have the "IGNORANCE of Racism"... or the bias and bigotry that Racism promotes. They know they are all Japanese and they don't make themselves crazy about it. They know they have ethnic mixture within their masses, but they still are Japanese.
When American can get over racism, it can push itself to a lead position and growth with stable systems, but never will it achieve such with racism, bigotry and bias that is rooted in the ignorance of racism.
Over-all... we have much to consider and many atonement to make as American Society, or we wither from the chaos within, and we will witness further dismantling of the American System as is being done by the Administration of Trump and the Mad Agenda of White Nationalism and Protectionist Madness.

You evidently have no idea what is America and How its System work or why it became the nation that it is. It certainly did not do or become so by "grand-standers" claiming they did it all themselves, and it did not do it without a good tax base.

By 1969, Nixon was wired up to remove ore processing and bust up the base of the Steel Workers Unions, and to do that, was to get rid first of ore process, and then came the rest of the industrial pieces that had strong unions.
The easiest in the mind of the right winger white males as a way to fight against that, was to "ship industry to foreign shores", his aims was ..."remove the means"... and the whole thing backfired in the general populations face, only the wealth white males who created and orchestrated this mess, became billionaires instead of simply millionaires, and the general white society, rsulted to fall into the same pit that was dug with intent for minorities and woman.
It's not hard to have figured that out... when one looks at a society that still today, push racism, white nationalistic aims, and would love to diminish minorities and women even more... and such a same system, still to this day, resents that any woman or minority gets to use any public programs, because these same men who wanted to control woman and minorities, resent that the government has a safety net, which takes the place of either relying on the white elitist.

No I don't think so because NK is very much different then the middle east where you see surprise air attack. NK is on high alert all the time and has prepared for this for years they have the capacity to strike south Korea 100's of Rocket and regular artillery . The only way to deal with NK will be a full invasion to remove UN from power that will lead to problems with China and Russia which both supported NK in the 1950's. The only way I see a military action is for NK to do something first.
ONE bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, and ONE bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. That's it.
There were NEVER three atomic bombs dropped on Japan!
