It would inevitably backfire on the Dems.

The left had no problem with Obama pardoning traitors and other criminals, but now you want to limit the republican Presidents ability to pardon.
Oh kind of like when Republican senators' prolific use of the blue slip to block Obama's judiciary nominees suddenly becomes bad now that the Dems are using it? Kind of like Trump's harsh criticism of Obama's executive orders and how he's issued more EOs in the first nine months of his presidency than Obama did in his entire first term? Are these the kind of hypocrisies you're talking about?

Does issuing EO to under EO that shouldnt have been issued to begin with, even count?

And furthermore, once again, its the INTENT of the OE that matters, not the quantity. Does renaming a building actually become such an issue to you that you have to use it as leverage ?

It amazes me how you Trumplings are able to justify hypocrisy. You've gotten it down to an art form.

when a democrat is in the white house, the liberals want unlimited presidential power, but when a republican is in the white house, the liberals want to limit that power as much as possible, such is the hypocrisy of the liberals.

personally i like the power enumerated by the constitution, and would hope that all elected officials work within that frame work.

It would apply to ALL future Presidents, no matter the Party, or did you Miss that?

Limiting any presidents pardon ability is a good thing, too bad the hypocrites didn't bring it up when Obama was pardoning drug dealers and gang bangers.

Sounds like the Mondale Amendment, which never got anywhere in its day but which Arlen Specter tried to revive as a response to Clinton's pardons.

There's an interesting opinion piece in the WSJ about a blanket pardon for all. He would essentially tell Mueller and everyone else to go eff themselves. Here -

"Mr. Trump can end this madness by immediately issuing a blanket presidential pardon to anyone involved in supposed collusion with Russia or Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign, to anyone involved with Russian acquisition of an American uranium company during the Obama administration, and to anyone for any offense that has been investigated by Mr. Mueller’s office. Political weaponization of criminal law should give way to a politically accountable democratic process. Nefarious Russian activities, including possible interference in U.S. elections, can and should be investigated by Congress."

Congress can still impeach him, but I bet a lot of people would like to see Russian fairy tale witch hunt over with.
