The original premise was that the government is turning on the people. Now you don't think that is the case you think snipers are going to pick like one out of 10? A hundred? And this is based on what exactly?
Who knows what a resistance would do. If it was large there would be no good way to tamp it out.
the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
note that it does limit firearms to the people, it doesnt say you can have this, but not that gun. technically many of the gun laws on the books now are unconstitutional, including the national firearms act of 1938(?) and 1968(?). even the assault weapons ban of 1993 was unconstitutional. too many judges looked the other way though, especially in the 1930s when FDR threatened to pack the scotus with 16 judges if he didnt get his way on a lot of legislation he supported.
But it also doesn't say you are entitled to "any gun not now in existence, but that will be available in the next 250 years or ever." Guess it is subject to interpretation, like everything in the Constitution.
Or how about some common sense?
How about mortars? They are considered to be guns. Constitutionally protected and legal?
That varies from state to state. I never have to show ID. Because I am a registered voter I just give my address, they find my info in the book, and I sign next to my signature. It also helps that the polls are run by all the little old ladies who do water aerobics with my mom.
But even without ID you would need to know the address, voting district, and signature of a registered voter, and would have to make sure they don't vote some how. Now I had to show proof of residency/ID when I registered the first time.
No semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazine. No magazines with a capacity of over 10 rounds. A drum or belt feed would not work with a gun with a fixed magazine so there is no need for me to address it. As I've said a dozen times before, an option would be to allow guns with removable magazines for purchase or possession who pass the same local law enforcement vetting as is conducted for a CCW applicant.
And what do you do about the millions of weapons already in the hands of American citizens that fit the above description?
My wife's kids are 19 and 15 and they are smarter then you all give them credit for and they don't eat tide pods. We'll all be dead and gone and some point and won't have a say in the matter.
My son is 16, he and his friends don't need to be told either.
do people really think the government is here to protect us.
