Bottom line is that saving animals is sexy but it's saving the actual habitat that is critical.
Why can't wealthy scumbags like Uday and Qusay Trump just donate the money to protect habitats without the need to kill an endangered animal as a quid pro quo? You act like the only way to generate money to protect these animals is to let rich sociopaths from around the globe kill them and collect their body parts as trophies.

Clinton’s little-known crusade to save Africa’s elephants

Look who had a huge goal of protecting the insane poaching of Elephants leading to their near extinction. It's blatantly obvious Trump did this as a vindictive move against Clinton and Obama, while allowing his sociopath children the ability to bring home trophies.

No Elephants are being saved by this move. Poaching has led to their endangered status. 110,000 elephants have been slaughtered in the past decade.

It's becoming really hard not to truly despise the human race.
Oh goodness.
This has nothing to do with poaching. This is removing a ban from bring trophies from LEGAL MANAGED HUNTS back into the US. No additional elephants will be killed. Actually the revenue generated from the LEGAL MANAGED HUNTS helps to control poaching so yep Id's say if more people pay to hunt legally, more revenue is generated and more revenue means more enforcement against poaching so elephants are being saved.

Managed hunting for elephants is legal, and the revenue it generates provides the most effective ways to pay for habitat protection and the enforcement of legal restrictions (arrest of poachers that kill in unrestricted numbers). The ban on importation of ivory from legally taken animals (or hides from others) was an idiotic, emotional reaction with no common sense behind it. Good to see this sort of stupidity coming to an end.

Don't like hunting? Don't hunt. It's really that simple.

Do you know anything about animal populations, habitats, and keeping a healthy herd that isn't too large for their food supply so they starve to death? Evidently not.

More fake outrage. These hunts provide good conservation money for the animals. After outraging on their computers, Americans will go back to setting their mouse traps and firing up their burgers and steaks.

Where does this article support the thesis that endangered animals must be hunted in order to be saved? The article just presents different sides of the argument without necessarily endorsing any one viewpoint.

You're correct, it presented both sides. Kinda like meaning you can make up your own mind.

no it wont.
Banning the sale of ivory on an open market reduces the supply, which in turn inflates the price of it, which makes it more attractive to poachers.
