Stop with the absurd hyperbole and actually read the research, Mike.

The Unites States of America is at a loss.

Safe to say that was what Ben Franklin was referring to here:

A: “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
When the 535 members of the US Congress represent the special interests of 1% of US?

Apparently not or the House would not have voted to approve the law. Those Representatives speak for their voters.

" Based on most polls"

Oh PLEASE!

You base your thinking on polls that have PROVEN over and over to NOT be right.

Are you aware that MOST big name polls survey MORE dems and ind then repubs?

It is no wonder the "results" always favor the dems.

Apparently those 250 reps speak for someone else than the American people. Maybe they speak for the corporations and the ultra rick, which are the real winners in thing thing.

As to the latter, which also applies to everything else, economists know WHY the US is dysfunctional:
Quote:
[Economist Anatole] "Kaletsky argues that over-reliance on progressives taxes creates "a perverse incentive for governments to promote income inequality. If the solvency of the state and the ability to fund basic services for the poorest people in society depends on the rich getting even richer, it is tempting for even the most progressive politicians to support widening inequalities."
The liberal case for regressive taxation

Let that sink in...

That's what's inherently wrong with a progressive tax system such as we have here in the US; it distorts and exacerbates income/wealth inequality by necessity in order to maximize tax revenue. The Europeans and Scandinavians have figured that out, and therefore rely most heavily on regressive taxes such as VAT and MUCH flatter income tax brackets.

Does the 1% still pay more in tederal income taxes than any other group? Yes, by a large amount.

Does about 45% of the lowest earners still pay no federal income taxes while receiving more services than the top 1%? Yes.

And you think the 1% are getting over on everyone else? Lol, yeah, good one.
