Exactly.

Most 3rd graders don't believe in santa. It's not far fetched for a teacher to stick to facts, and not dance around the fairy tale subject. Teacher did nothing wrong. If a parent is afraid of a teacher speaking on facts, then they should consider home schooling.

I know this won't go over well but I will ask anyway..

do you think poor kids believe in Santa?

Seems like it's something wealthy kids can believe in until they are 15 but poor kids? Nah, either Santa isn't real or he is an @sshole who never visits their house.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with kids believing in any of the above (and I don't want to hear any anti-Christian or anti-Muslim remarks). You do you and let others alone.

Its also not the teacher's job to go against what parents teach --- especially with something as innocuous as Santa.
I agree with everything but Jesus and Muhammad.

That's off limit but Easter bunnies and Cinderella? Sure.. pop that bubble.

Again, where do we draw the line? Does a teacher NOT say that Thor is a myth, I mean, in your words...they are not required to invalidate beliefs.
Its not difficult to keep your mouth shut on things that quite literally have nothing to do with you.

I was sent to a strict parochial grade school as a child. We were told straight up that Santa was fabricated by Satan to take away from baby Jesus. That is my basis for my statement.

How did I "smear" others?

from my experience, doing some peripheral work for an "adopt-a-family" charity, poor kids requests from santa tend to be easier to obtain. a soccer ball, a jacket, bedding, a specific book are all things i've seen individually requested of santa from poor kids.

( so, yes, they do ).

Where do you draw the line? Again, especially by a certain age, a teacher doesn't propagate fairy tales, nor do they "keep their mouths shut on it".

News flash....in case you haven't been paying attention, at 3rd grade, they are ALREADY watching movies and tv shows that mention that santa is not real. They are ALREADY seeing commercials aimed at parents to get certain toys for them for christmas.

So, I ask, at what age, do we draw that line? It's ok for pretty much every single outlet to talk about santa not being real....but teachers, you know, they ones dealing in education....have to keep their mouths shut?

lol, this is comical.

Meh.

We did Santa for our kids when they were younger. It wasn't a huge deal. Basically took them to see Santa, had them write letters to Santa and wrote Santa's names on some of the gifts.

From what I can tell, it hasn't scarred them or given them a twisted idea of "truth."

People get to worked up about this stuff and I sometimes think the internet contributes to it.

Why?

They'll figure it out soon enough.

As far as religious figures go, many people think Jesus is as real as Spider-man. Why can't people just keep their traps shut nowadays? Again, you do you and stop trying to make everyone else believe the way you do.
