We have computers which were new in the 80s, we have so many convenient housework gadgets even the remote control. OP; you sound a little self righteous to me and really have littlle knowledge of what life and fun was 30 or 40 years ago.

Obesity kicked up in recent years. We had cable tv and VCRs and Blockbuster in the 80s, we could sit all day and eat Ben & Jerrys watching MTV on our new 27" flat screen console tvs. We have media rooms now then there were rec rooms. How many calories burned playing Atari and listening to CDs?
Anyone in 1986 could sit on their butt all day if they wanted and stare at a screen eating Fritos. In 1956 too, but society was different, until recently it wasn't considered normal or ok to do that. Now some people brag about being fat, lazy and happy and enjoying life sitting in an easy chair.
