I have noticed when I look at YouTube videos from the 1980s that back than people were constantly doing outdoor events, huge picnics, huge shows and things like huge movies in the parks.
Now, for the most part people just go out to eat 2,000 to 3,000 calorie meals that claim to chef and artisan prepared in a crowded, stinky setting and than afterwards they get a 1,000 calorie milkshake and usually go out with their spouse to show off drinking $15 martini's all night.
LOL no, people went out to eat in the 1980s and people recreate outdoors in the 2010s.
Another day on the internet, another person spouting about the good old days and how they are smarter then everyone else. Apparently this is something that started around 2000 and only gets worse.
I miss the good old days before 2000 when people weren't always spouting off about the good old days.

To be fair it's not like obesity isn't a serious problem now.
I went to a hip little restaurant in the city last weekend and most of the younger women there were obese. Not chunky, obese. I don't get it, they are too young for that and a two thousand calorie Starbucks "coffee" every day isn't worth it.
It's too many calories and too little physical activity. That changed from the 1980s to now, so it is relevant.

Maybe you should get out more instead of sitting in a basement pounding on a keyboard.

True that. Around here people are hunting, fishing, boating (big time), going to festivals and outdoor art shows, bowling, watching movies outdoors, attending antique shows and flea markets, ... the list goes on and on. I (almost) feel sorry for the OP if his perceived options are limited to mass consumption of food.
another individual experiencing life thru a smart phone.... as opposed to experiencing life?
youtube is no substitute for reality.
I spent part of the Christmas break camping with more than 500 other people. Our town has multiple concerts and movies on the square every year. we have an amphitheater that shows plays etc.
