In light of the supposed recent comments by Trump suggesting that the US needs more immigrants from places like Norway, do Americans really believe that a large influx of people from places with as high a quality of life as Norway really would want to emigrate there? Or was it just hyperbole?

Realize that I'm not talking about a few here and there for specific job opportunities, I mean a large influx of immigrants from those places; sometimes by what I hear some Americans say it seems they believe even people from Scandinavia are lining up to go to the US. Do people really generally believe this?

I would think that Americans would understand supply and demand a little better to comprehend why only people from "the worst countries on earth" want to go over there en mass.

Well, with the Left’s attempts to turn this country into a refuge for third world castoffs, the argument against coming here becomes stronger and stronger.

Likewise however Norway and most of Europe is having their own immigration crisis so maybe the conditions there might deteriorate enough to where they may want to leave too eventually.

if you're a socialist it's a great place to live.

In 2016, 895 people emigrated from the U.S. to Norway.

No, no one who understands the rest of the world thinks that.

Do Norwegians really consider the U.S. a sh-thole?

(One ignorant question deserves another.)

Give it time. When all of Europe is flooded by their new overlords, they'll be begging to come here.

People USED to think that everyone in the world wanted to live here.

But our culture started to decline at some point--education was dumbed down, tv became a cesspool of violence and boredom, racism increased, and of course, there's the matter of our poor health/obesity, probably due to our junk food culture. It's happened right before our eyes.

From what I've seen, the people who are lining up for immigration (not talking about illegals) are educated people who would like to make more money than they could in their own country. Therefore, you get a lot of doctors from India and people from Viet Nam. They do better here than they would back home.

There is no reason for someone from a decent place like Norway to come here unless it's to marry an American. Norway and many other countries offer a better quality of life than is available to most people here. Some of the Scandinavian countries have the happiest people on earth--no worrying about getting a disease and not being able to get medical care, no worrying about not having enough to eat--less stress=more relaxing, better life.

This is 100% true.

You need to imagine that you are Norwegian, why would you want to come to America?

The Scandinavians who come to America, are basically the highly-skilled Scandinavians, who could make more money or pay far lower taxes by coming to the United States.

The same basic principles applies to all countries, but the proportion of Scandinavians who would be richer by coming to America is far lower than the proportion of Filipinos or Vietnamese or Indians who would be richer by coming to America.

Which is why far more Filipinos, Vietnamese, and Indians want to come here(as well as Mexicans, Guatemalans, El Salvadoreans, etc).

It isn't complicated.

No, if you are a "mixed economist" who believes in more robust safety net and that greed should not be the primary factor in all peoples lives, it's a great place to live.

Glad I could help you out where right wing hyperbole couldn't.
