Despite the Spec Ops alleged lack of success, getting over a 30 foot wall out in the middle of nowhere is not going to be a significant challenge for most.

A lot do come by trucks. There are farmers who comply with the law and hire through the migrant worker programs.

They pick watermelons, or strawberries, or ?? then fade off.

The wall is not going to have any impact at all on these folks.

The current penalties amount to a mere slap on the wrists and barely that.

This would raise money to pay for ICE so might even be revenue neutral.

It would impact the visa overstays, as well as those crossing the border on foot.
There are many things that COULD be more effective than a wall, but since politicians won’t take illegal immigration serious and states and courts play games with existing laws, we need a wall.

Illegal immigration didn’t start last year, it’s been a problem for decades which politicians refuse to take seriously. Why should I believe they will take it seriously now when California has declared itself a sanctuary state?

So we do the same with other countries as well. What part of this is rocket science?

Then why was there such a significant drop in border crossings where walls have been erected?

WTH do visa over stayers have to do with border jumpers and how we have to deal with both problems in a different way? Why would you ignore one of those problems? By your own stats you are admitting that at least 50% of illegals coming here are border jumpers.
So in addition to the wall we now have to install tunnel sensors to make it work properly? What will we have to install next? Electrified fencing at the top? How much is this going to ultimately cost?

If you honestly think the majority of illegals just wander across a completely open border and find jobs in US companies who "don't know they are employing illegals," I have a wall to sell you, and you can pay for it.

Until the ACTUAL problem is addressed - businesses knowingly hiring illegals - the problem will not be solved. And since that would require some level of regulation against business, which flies in the face of the corporate oligarchy mindset of the far-right, it will never happen.

So, keep on believing that our southern border has "no defenses" until Trump builds his magic wall which will "keep all the illegals out." Every part of that sentence is incorrect, but I've never known the far-right too be too interested in facts, and certainly not when spouting off on a right-wing political forum.
