For the record, I like Asian merchants. I’ve always done good business with them. I’ve never been cheated or treated poorly.
But I’m not gonna tolerate ANY discrimination just because some other black persons did this or that. That ain’t my problem. In fact, I don’t wanna even hear about it. I’m not interested. Bring it up and I’ll just cut you off and embarrass you.
Discriminate against the folks that screwed you. Don’t bother me with your past problems with others.

As a business owner who has retail stores in the shopping malls, I must say that I don't think one race steals more than the other. I think the behaviors of the customers is connected to socioeconomic status.(This is my own generalization and of course there is always exception to this rule.)
I can't remember how many times black customers told me to "Just keep the change." Most are very friendly. Older black ladies have always told me, "Honey, your cabinet door is not closed. Just want to tell you that." I think they are very sweet.
My friend's mom owns a beauty salon/ beauty supply store. They are Korean-Americans. The mom was frustrated that people just wanted to try on the wigs without buying, so she came up with a new policy, "Pay $1.00 to try on the wigs." lol Many customers have told her that this is a good policy. LOL
The owner of the 7/11 in my mom's neighborhood used to be an older white gentleman. We all knew him growing up and he was the nicest person ever. Now the 7/11 has a new owner (somebody from a different race and a different culture/religious background) The friendly conversation is gone, but I understand he is only there to do business. There is no mad love for us. lol He's friendly and always follows the rules, so I have no problem with that. But do I miss the previous owner who is also everyone's friend? Yes, I certainly do.
On the bold, it is interesting how people get great relationships with the clerks in their neighborhoods. When I was younger, our corner store (connected to a laundromat) was owned/operated by a Greek immigrant. I ADORED him literally. Everyone in the neighborhood loved him and I lived in a pretty rough neighborhood. I remember once some man who was a new guy in the neighborhood robbed the store and all our local gang members found him and beat the crap out of him lol. No one messed with our store owner. He was just a nice man and he would even help out poor families with food/money when they didn't have enough to pay or anything to eat. I remember he had some health problems and had to sell the store. It was a sad day. My dad drives a taxi now part time and had a job a couple years ago and picked up our old store clerk and he said the clerk was so happy to see my dad, that he was crying about how much he missed everyone in the neighborhood and felt he should never have sold the store.
It is amazing to me that you all seem to be okay with this man being racist against black people and treating them worse than other guests based on racist beliefs.
Nearly all buffets make all guests pay as soon as they come in. That alleviates the dash and dine situations and would make this man's racism less evident to his customers.
Ok, I'd forgotten about Golden Corral, or probably just repressed that memory.
I think that the pre-pay is common to certain chains as well as geographic areas.
The Asian buffet places around me are not pre-pay but then again the corner gas-mart places around here don't have the employees behind protective glass either.
Regardless, the store should have one consistent policy.
And... so many pages later, I honestly think that the owner of this Chinese buffet restaurant is only asking large groups of YOUNG black adults/teens to pay upfront. I really got the impression that not all black customers were asked this. Only large parties of young potential dine and dashers.
The owner is not being racist towards ALL blacks, just being cautious with the ones of the types that have skipped out on their bill in the past. And since he doesn't ask ALL of his customer to pay upfront, it indicates that he'd rather not change his whole restaurant policy. I think that he does want to treat most of his customers like responsible and civilized people.

You say that now, but you wanted them to discriminate against ALL blacks in earlier posts.
If Dicks and Walmart can discriminate against a group because of the action of a very small number of people in that group then why can’t this guy?
If you can't sell the fruits of your labor under your conditions at all times, as long as the other party consents, you are nothing but a slave to the entity holding the gun to your head telling you otherwise.
If a black restaurant owner wants all whites to pay up front and refuses to sell them every dish on page 2 of the menu (but will sell the meals on pages 1 and 3) as long as the customer is OK with that (consents) let them do business.
The free market ultimately represents the values of the people because only those owners who have a business model most folks agree with are going to survive.
Socialism/slavery only hides bad business practices behind the protection of the government.
A lot of buffets ask for money up front, this owner should too. I don't know if this owner was a racist, however I've seen quite a few Chinese people who are . His actions don't look good.
