... We can say future presidents are just so "quirky" because they are from a given state and it's all okay and not grossly egotistical.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but St. Obama was not without ego.

"Was there ever a president as deeply enamored of himself as Barack Obama?

The first President Bush, taught from childhood to shun what his mother called “The Great I Am,’’ regularly instructed his speechwriters not to include too many “I’s’’ in his prepared remarks. Reagan maintained that there was no limit to what someone could achieve if he didn’t mind who got the credit. George Washington, one of the most accomplished men of his day, said with characteristic modesty on becoming president that he was “peculiarly conscious of his own deficiencies.’’

Obama, on the other hand, positively revels in The Great I Am.

“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,’’ he told campaign aides when he was running for the White House. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that . . . I’m a better political director than my political director.’’

At the start of his presidency, Obama seemed to content himself with the royal “we’’ - “We will build the roads and bridges. . . . We will restore science to its rightful place. . . . We will harness the sun and winds,’’ he declaimed at his inauguration.

But as the literary theorist Stanley Fish points out, “By the time of the address to the Congress on Feb. 24, the royal we [had] flowered into the naked ‘I’: ‘As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress.’ ‘I called for action.’ ‘I pushed for quick action.’ ‘I have told each of my Cabinet.’ ‘I’ve appointed a proven and aggressive inspector general.’ ’I refuse to let that happen.’ ’’ In his speech on the federal takeover of General Motors, Obama likewise found it necessary to use the first-person singular pronoun 34 times. (“Congress’’ he mentioned just once.)

At this rate, it won’t be long before the president’s ego is so inflated that it will require a ZIP code of its own.

Then again, how modest would any of us be if we were as magnificent as Obama knows himself to be? “I am well aware,’’ he told the UN General Assembly in September, “of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world.’’

Obama’s swelling ego - The Boston Globe

Quite notable is the difference between how many times Trump used the pronoun "I" in his first SOTU vs. how many times Obama used it....

In 2010, Obama used I/me/my 98 times. Trump used them 26 times.

I think it's funny because it's an ambiguous statement so it could mean that he's admitting that he's not a real person.
The good stars/celebrities aren't really stars underneath. They are regular people with a hectic life. Some of them are talented for sure but they're still just people at the end of the day.
He is one of those people that acts the most like a celebrity meaning above other people and so basically he admitted part of the problem with his fan base.

Joke's on him. He thinks when we're laughing we're laughing with him but we're always laughing at him. I bet he doesn't even know what ambiguous means considering he's never read a book.

1. That article is written by the Boston Globe, so that sounds like pushback. Where is the Trump pushback by Fox? Or Wall St. Journal? Or any other right wing media?

2. Can any Trump supporter dispute Trump's ego? His multi-city tour regaling his election win? His constant rhetoric saying he's the smartest, has the best words, the best business man (in spite of all the bankruptcies) etc. and now he's the "only star" (with a wink of course).

It is what it is, Trump is disgustingly egotistical, openly brags about himself constantly and is so aware of the Trump worship that he brags that he could publicly shoot someone and not lose support.

Regardless that it is quoted in the Globe, READ what Obama said about himself. Those aren't made up quotes. Obama said those things. Donna Brazil said that Obama had a "titanic sized ego". Is the former head of the DNC providing push back?

Does one need a list of all the things Trump has said about himself? Here's just a fraction:

Trump is a loose cannon and he gets plenty of ridicule when he inserts his foot or his tweeting thumbs into his mouth but there are those that don't get his humour and they take him seriously.

The thing with Obama is that he was a polished up slick politician that was so smooth at telling us a whopper of a lie that most of us never questioned it. Trump is not a politician and that is part of why he was voted into office.

He tells it like it is and is loud when he does.
I think Trump is exactly what this country needed but for the Dems they still don't get it.

Oh, the Democrats get it. They see that all the screaming about Obama was complete BS. Because Trump supporters elected a guy that did and does everything they screamed about, but it's okay because he's their guy. Democrats see Trump supporters for exactly what they are and after this, after Trump, the screams by Trump supporters will fall on deaf ears because they've been shown for who they are. Add Trump's ego and endless open bragging to the long list of things Republicans don't get to complain about in the future.

So?

The ego (and the golf and the travel and the scandals) didn't bother you when it was YOUR guy, so you don't get to complain about them now. All your complaints are falling on deaf ears.
