When someone takes a truck and drives through a crowd of people (which happened not long ago in NYC killing eight) did the truck precipitate the deaths?
And yet we still regulate the sale, registration and license those who wish to own and operate trucks. Even more interesting is the bigger the truck, the stricter the regulations imposed on those who wish to use it.

So good idea Pilot, let’s do exactly what we do for truck users for gun owners! Excellent plan should I quote you when I post it elsewhere?

Why wouldn’t we want to also stop those types of gun deaths as well?

Who said we didn't want to stop those PEOPLE deaths? The guns aren't shooting people by themselves. Address the cause, not the tool. Japanese have a lot of suicides, but they use drugs, bridges, buildings, trains, etc. Our inner city gang violence, and murders are at epidemic levels, yet those Democrat city politicians do very little to stop it.

So who said the guns were shooting anyone by themselves? Can you please quote were that occurred in this thread?

And as you pointed out guns are like trucks. Let’s regulat the users, owners, and so on just like we do trucks. It reallly is a brilliant idea on your part.

Cities are safer over all than rural areas. So lets concentrate on rural death and violence.

Per capita, and per square mile, cities are much more dangerous.

No, they are not. Maybe by total count, but not per capita. Cities are about 20% less dangerous.

You posted that article to dispute that Vermont was one of the safest states.

What I read is that Vermont has few gun restrictions, but falls in the middle of the pack for gun deaths. New Hampshire and Maine are in the on the border between the first and second quarter.
