It is one death.

I don't see why suicide and/or school shootings have anything to do with this. It is a straight out question.

"Gun related death": Did a person die. Was a gun used to cause the death? That's a gun related death.

For those of you who chose... "Those with the most restrictive gun laws." It's no wonder we can't get an honest conversation going. This is another area where you refuse to acknowledge facts.

So you're including suicide. You should explicitly state that, as many people would assume you're speaking of homicides in this discussion. Though I suspect the omission is intentional.

Suicides? Gang violence? Stats can be very misleading.

If someone is intent on committing suicide then I don't really see why the means they choose to accomplish it are pertinent.

I don't find it very honest to try to confuse the serious issue of gun violence with gun deaths inflated by suicides.

People are concerned that someone is going to shoot up their kids school or mug their spouse or have a violent ex or whatnot show up with a gun.

They're not worried that some guy around the corner that has lost their job and home to addiction is going to intentionally OD or shoot themselves or sit in the garage with the car running...it happens many times a day in the US and while sad, it's not even remotely the same thing as what happened at places like Parkland.

How many people who kill themselves (with guns) also take out other people on the way?

And how often are people killed by children? Toddlers shot at least 50 people in 2016.

No, the issue is guns. You can try to sub-divide if you like, but it still comes back to guns.

And yes, stats can be misleading. Let's keep it simple and to the point.

Which states have the highest Gun related death rates? Those with strict - or lax - gun laws?

What is most interesting is the fact that almost two-thirds of gun deaths are suicides. This is the kind of information congress ordered the CDC to stop researching, at the prodding of the NRA. They still get copies of death certificates.

Again, I thought it worthwhile to make available here.

Almost two thirds are suicides (11,726 of 33,599)?

So if a guy finds out he has a terminal disease and doesn't feel like sticking around for all the fun, he has to find a building to jump off or the anti-gun nuts won't be happy?

Well then, if someone wants to kill himself, lets make it as easy as possible. But that aside...

Personally, I won't be happy until we stop most of these unnecessary deaths. But you hang onto your gun as long as you can and as long as it soothes you.
