Aren't we...?

No, It's time you MOVED to one of those other great countries you praise so much.

Tell is which one so we can post ALL the other stuff THEY do.

we can provide healthcare for all if you're willing to give an additional 25% of your income to pay for it.

I do happen to think our healthcare system is excellent as long as you are a contributing member of society and have health insurance (e.g. the working professional class is generally well taken care of).

Socialized medicine may have better coverage, but the price you pay for such a system is enormous. Look at the cost of other things in Europe compared to the US... Significantly higher taxes, smaller housing, expensive food (with smaller portions), generally terrible customer service, etc. etc. You're paying more and getting less for practically everything over there. Do you know that the price of a base model Subaru Forester in the UK costs around $37,000 BEFORE taxes and fees? Here in the US, it's around $22k...

All of these extra costs add up, and when you weigh the pros and the cons of living in "socialized" areas of the world, I think the cons tend to wash out the pros.

You already pay for it genius.

The US spends more in public dollars per person on healthcare then the countries with a single payer, and then you pay for it again out of pocket.

Single payer and overhaul the system. Government negotiates and controls costs. No difference in cost to the people. They'll save money.

The problem isn't doctor pay. It's drugs, medical devices, and a highly inefficient and not transparent system.

Not really. You see the title, and wonder, because most people know that's not true. Then you spot the ellipsis, and look at the thread to see the rest of the story.

If every American who struggled to pay for adequate healthcare suddenly moved to another country where they could better afford it, then we'd have a very small population of very rich citizens.

This problem with rising healthcare costs and state-fleeing ACA health insurers is an even greater problem now, thanks to Trump's initiative to offer interstate insurance options without clamping down on young adults complying with ACA mandates.

Without ACA young adult mandate compliance, the ACA will fail with nothing substantial to replace it.

We're currently stepping back in time....

Universal healthcare is something every nation with the economic capability should have.

Why not? It's not like billionaires, or even upper-single-digit millionaires, are gonna starve on account of it. Maybe the latter will have to postpone buying that new yacht or highest-end time-share in Switzerland, but that's not a life-or-death matter, much less an essential human right.

Nope!

Do you realize that people have lost their life savings, their homes, good credit ratings, and their very own lives, due to the American insanity of high healthcare costs?

Many have gone completely bankrupt and lost valuable property, due to healthcare expenses. Some healthcare expenses have ruined entire families because one spouse refuses to assist another in medical payments for certain loved ones.
Exorbitant medical expenses causes much undue stress.

At least with universal healthcare, this type of stress and the subsequent losses that most inevitably follow are completely avoided.

BTW

I happen to like Subarus, but not at the risk of losing my health or the health of a loved one.

Once we properly address healthcare costs in this country, a Benz might even become more admirable to more Americans than base model Subarus...
