Not really. You see the title, and wonder, because most people know that's not true. Then you spot the ellipsis, and look at the thread to see the rest of the story.
Yes I see a lie....
But, in the leftist world, I guess first could also be considered last....since everyone is a victim..
Opinion only here, but studying what works best of all those other systems and what facets of healthcare delivery they excel at providing would be my suggestion as a place to begin an overhaul.
No logical reason exists why the U.S. could not provide a system of affordable and universal healthcare for all that would be the envy of everyone.
Get our government out of the equation and efficiency will get better with costs going down. The care isn't the problem, it's the costs.
...but only if you start from the bottom. It's time we eliminated the insurance companies that add cost without any pretense of adding benefits and get rid of the Wall Street Mentality that drives Medical LLCs who order all the tests they can find to keep their profits up. It's time to go to a complete expansion of Medicare to cover everyone in the country. Single payer. UHC. Whatever you want to call it. If every other developed country can figure it out, surely we are smart enough to ask them what they are doing and do it as well.
Just came back from Europe. People there cannot understand why so many in the USA are so opposed to universal healthcare. They are generally happy with what they have there, and they DO pay premiums in most cases.

They have a 20% to 25% VAT that everyone pays, PLUS much flatter income tax rates. Implement a 25% VAT here in the U.S., flatten Federal Income Tax brackets and rates, and we can have Single Payer health care.
I won't bother people who've already seen the data analysis, but this post has the info, why those countries can afford to fund better social program benefits for all, and why their residents don't mind paying very high tax rates:

In Canada, total spending as a percentage of GDP is 1/3 less than in the USA. Canadians have a better outcome.. they live longer. Average lifespan in Canada 82. Average lifespan in USA 78.
Every other argument is just fluff, as less spending that leads to a longer lifespan speaks for itself.
Then you can pay for your own wars/nation-building. Leave me out of it.
I'd like to opt out of that, as well. We are NOT the world's police, and we sure as hell SHOULDN'T be staging coups/deposing other countries' leaders, replacing toppled regimes, OR nation building.

Deal! But only if I can be left out of paying for asinine wars of choice and regime change of no benefit to the US as well as a bloated defense budget that costs as much as the next 7 countries combined to defend a country already surrounded by two oceans and two friendly countries..
