Honestly, I’m scared to death that we are headed toward an authoritarian government while no one is looking.

Trump has been very happy to adhere to the Constitutional limitations on POTUS power. He has done this in contrast to 0bama's annoyance with Constitutional restraints on POTUS power.
Have you read the Constitution? If adhered to as it was written (originalist interpretation), it provides the greatest shield against anyone taking too much power for himself/themselves.

Yes. An EO is what presidents use when they cannot be bothered by the Constitution’s direction that Congress legislates and the POTUS executes the laws.
