I had a security clearance at my first job out of college at a "think tank" in DC. I only worked there a year then went on to work for state and local governments. About 10 years after I left the think tank, I needed to participate in meetings that required a security clearance and surprisingly mine was still active! Ffw another 10 years and again I needed the clearance; by this time it had lapsed and it took 6 weeks to get it re-activated. A colleague who had never had clearance was told it would take up to 9 months (this was just after 9-11).
They can appeal if they want.
You must have had a lower level security clearance. At least not at the level of these people.
As I recall, security clearances can be active, current, or expired. A current clearance can be reinstated as needed. Having an active or current clearance does not mean that the person holding it has access to classified materials.
There are current employees in their old positions to do that. Do you routinely help out new hires at a job that you no longer work at?
This has never been an issue until now. We have never had agents intelligence personnel behave like this - at least in this generation. They are bad apples. The problems are not systemic.
I'm not ready to overturn the system because of these people.

If I am not mistaken, some jobs require security clearance, so if it is revoked, then it would be impossible to apply for such jobs. Maybe that is Trumps goal (making sure they can't find a job).
