The only way, in a moral & logical society, all options are exhausted is by natural scarcity.
Of course artificial scarcity, induced by the State, is a huge problem as we speak today. If the last piece of land on earth is rightfully claimed by an individual (and we are far from that both in what is rightful and land being natural scarce) then that is simply nature/God/Buddha/the magical touch lamp in my bathroom...telling us life beyond that point is unsustainable.
People are not going to build living quarters out of their own generosity.
Unfortunately "I'm going to take my ball and go home" is not a solution.
