In the long term, never.

The progress we made in the 90s to create more wealth was going great for the rich, and some middle class members did better as well.

Now we are back where we started but the rich have kept all the money they added in that period.

So no, in the long term, growth does not better society, it divides it.

People feel the exploitation of workers is something normal. In the same way money subjugate governments and workers' rights soon will see as "normal" the entire corruption of social life.
This is just one example of what the future hold.

The point is, someone should NOT have to consent to that to be able to make ends meet. When you are left with little other options it's not really consent.

People shouldn’t have to consent to anything when there is vacant housing available to them.

Consent to anything you want. It's your mind and body. I don't have a higher claim on it than you do.

The only way, in a moral & logical society, all options are exhausted is by natural scarcity.

Of course artificial scarcity, induced by the State, is a huge problem as we speak today. If the last piece of land on earth is rightfully claimed by an individual (and we are far from that both in what is rightful and land being natural scarce) then that is simply nature/God/Buddha/the magical touch lamp in my bathroom...telling us life beyond that point is unsustainable.
