A reminder might be in order once again; this thread's O/P is an American.
Why, of course. Only we Yanks have enough self-confidence to criticize ourselves in a public forum.

Funny how it's an American who came up with a list about how their country is lacking.

Another thread started by an American, and Canadians get blamed.

Blame Canada, an oldie but a goodie.LOL

I haven't been paying full attention to the negotiations, so what concessions has Canada made?

The only thing I heard is that the US gave up on it's insistence of a five year term for NAFTA and now it's a reasonable 16 years....just what Canada and Mexico wanted.

Here's the reality -- when a deal is struck I suspect all three countries will make concessions to get what each country decides is important.

So yeah Canada has items that they are willing to tank to get items they NEED/WANT.
USA -- same.
Mexico same.

In the MExico/USA deal -- neither country is losing much of anything...not a huge gain -- some positive points for all three countries (which is funny because Canada didn't even have to be at the table to get concessions they were hoping for -- the labour stuff).

But the child President will only claim that the USA won! Because for him -- he can't live in a world where there is compromise and everyone can accept a deal. He needs to make his fans believe he did something amazing that no other President ever could.

It will be a trade deal for all three countries that will benefit all three.

WOOHOO!

The thing everyone forgets that this is a TREATY, and needs Senate approval. Trump can trumpet all he wants, but if the deal hurts the Senator's State, good luck getting 60% approval.

Move to Canada..........go ahead. It's a socialist country. Good luck with the health care system. While you are there, listen to the people. It seems like all they talk about is the Government. Like it is their parent. It's very strange.

I vacation on the west coast, it's lovely. But to move there, no thanks. As for safe......go to Toronto, tell me how safe it is

I have a few things the US beats Canada at....

1...Incarceration rate. Canada 139 per 100,000...USA 716 per 100,000.

2...Murders per million people...Canada 16.23...USA 42.01

3...Rapes per million people..... Canada 16.88...USA 274.04

I have many family and friends in the city -- they are fine -- they are safe as those in cities here in the USA.

And you are suggesting Canadians talk about the government more than Americans -- LOL -- that is funny.

You obviously aren't as informed about Canada as you think you are. Canada talks about hockey more than anything -- not govt. LOL

And thank you -- I had Canadian health care until I was 39, My elderly Mom, my four siblings and their families, my husbands five siblings and their families all have health care in Canada and have no complaints.

It's a great country.

USA is a great country.
