So, with a straight face you claim that many Republicans are young? The reason they don't care is many of them are already getting theirs.

I don't want SS to end and by "fight" I assume you mean vote. I always do.

You are one of the few that don't.

Fear mongering my ass. The billionaires who bankroll the republican party demand the weakening of anything that gave the public a break during the Depression.

There is nothing to get back, because unfortunately that money is gone and redistributed elsewhere once robbed from your paycheck. Pretty good scam if you can get it.

Ridiculous thread Social security is not going away but some cost cutting would be good.

If it does go away I will be fine as I just bought a case of Meow Mix. The cat will have to catch mice if he wants to eat.

It's going broke. What do YOU want to do about it?

Let's raise the minimum age and increase the contributions. It's not going anywhere. Libs need to get another scare tactic.

Push granny off the cliff.

So what? Ryan doesn't run the country by himself. He's one Congressman who is retiring. He's not King nor a dictator. Get a grip.

I assume by "chief media source" you're referring to the Trustees of the Social Security and Medicare programs, who issue a report every single year and have been warning of exactly that for years now? SS expenditures have exceeded the payroll taxes collected since 2010.

1) To echo Frank, nobody "paid into" anything. You paid a tax that immediately went to funding the FICA contributions of that day. If you doubt that, go the www.ssa.gov website and check their Fleming v Nestor page. It explains it all.

2) The program was designed unsustainable, same as every other Ponzi scheme in existence. At some point, to keep the program going, it was always going to have to have painful (to expected recipients) changes made.

Those two things said - the Republicans are feckless cowards who want to buy your vote same as the Democrats, therefore, they aren't going to do anything with Socialist Security or Mediwelfare other than slightly increase how much we spend on it and then kick that can down the road for another Congressional cycle. Everything beyond that simple reality is simply not going to happen.

For example, examine 2005. In the election of 2004, one of Dubyah's big reelection goals/promises was reforming SS/MC. After the election, he spent most of Nov-Dec 2004 talking about "spending his political capital" and all that. Guess who shut his plans down? Hint - it wasn't the Democrats. They didn't need to lift a finger to see the Ryan-Sununu-Kemp plan get crushed in committee and the media, because the GOP did all the work for them. Every single time anyone gets near those two programs, the GOP are the vanguard of defending it and then increasing it somehow in some pathetic virtue signaling attempt.

So stop this ridiculous nonsense. If you want people to vote Democrat, just say that - vote Democrat. No need to spin absurd fairy tales to scare people into it.

The Feds took SS out of my paycheck for 40+ years …. they are going to have a hard time if they decide to keep it.
