The situation that drives them out of Central America is worse than the risks they face making the arduous journey and hiding out in the US. Until their home situation improves they will keep coming regardless of our ridiculous wall or any other feeble obstacles we put in their way. There are people who profit from having them come here. If we enforce an e-verify rule at home and spend some of those billion$ planned for the wall on mitigating conditions in Central America we would rectify some of the reasons that force them to come here in the first place. The other 40-50% that come here and overstay their visas will still be here and keep coming until we manage and track them better...the wall is useless.

Not our problem! Most of them are just seeking economic opportunity on the backs of the U.S. taxpayer/worker they are not fleeing from danger and the former is not a viable reason to seek asylum.

For the umpteenth time the good walls have been very effective in deterring illegal entry (links provided). They can keep coming all they want but with the good walls built most won't get in anyway. It's not only migrants looking for work that are getting through our porous border but criminals and those from known terrorist countries also, thus the wall. E-verify won't stop them.

The visa over stayer problem just needs to be addressed in a different way. They are both problems one solution won't fix both problems. I find it simply amazing after all the proof I have provided that the good walls have been very effective that anyone could be so thick headed that they could make the stupid claim that the good walls are useless. Must have been dropped on their heads when they were kids??????

GOP should pair it with an infrastructure bill.

A town in Pennsylvania tried that. A court ruled against it.

He doesn’t care about that right now.

Trump’s priority right now is to end the Russian meddling investigation. That’s it.

He got his supporters all worked up for nothing. The US won’t become part of Latin America. After three generations, immigrants are fully integrated into American society. Most become English speaking only.

Contract for the wall was already awarded and the wall is under construction. Sorry for the breaking news.

And there's already miles of barriers and fences a long the border courtesy of Mr. Bush and Obama.

He had two years of full control of the house and senate and he couldnt get it done, chances are slim he will get it done now.He was also going to repeal the ACA and lock Hillary up. As for America ceasing to exist? you have very little in the way of confidence in America,IMO youve been listening to too much rightwing doom and gloom nonesensce.

You might want to try watching the news every now and then.

MCALLEN, Texas (AP) - Federal authorities have awarded a $145 million contract to a Texas company to build 6 miles (9.5 kilometers) of wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said Friday that SLSCO will begin construction of an 18-foot (5.5-meter) reinforced concrete levee wall in February in the agency's McAllen Station region. The company will also increase the height of existing fences.

It will be the first section of President Donald Trump's border barriers in the Rio Grande Valley, the busiest corridor for illegal crossings.

He did not have "full" control, the Republicans had a narrow lead (1 seat) in the Senate and a small buffer in the house which was not enough to build the wall without compromise with senate Democrats.

Trump always has a scapegoat and it never includes him taking responsibility for his "Con" job like Mexico was supposed to pay for it or the fact that he has had a full GOP Congress for half of his term and they wouldn't fund it either.

This is one of my main reasons for disliking Trump: his entire campaign, as well as all he has done in office, has been based on having a scapegoat of some kind or another. He can't do anything without having an "enemy" to to point his fat little finger at.
