Private borders? NO! The borders of the United States, and who does or does not cross them, are the business of EVERY American, not just those who happen to live alongside the borders. It is absolutely the job of the United States government to secure our borders.

The more airport closures the better.
Congress critters flying home every week after working a couple days might be the inconvenience that gets them to act. If it impacts their campaign funding they will most certainly act quickly.

Why should travellers be inconvenienced or suffer financial loss over the disagreements of idiot politicians arguing over self created problems?

I have a feeling the callouts are sort of strike or protest organized by their unions. Anyone that is working is an essential employee, they get paid so what is their issue?

I guarantee you it's the unions behind this trying to cause pain. There is no reason these people should be calling out like this, they are essential if they are working and they are getting paid. What's their problem? It's politics and they are being manipulated to be pawns by the unions.

Surely you jest. Or you are spewing the false narrative. Or you are woefully misinformed.

I don't know why. How is that even possible? I work for state government and if there is a shutdown, which there have been a few, the essentials get paid but the union tries to get them to call out to cause problems. I guess the fed is different and that should change.

well, the people who took the jobs took that chance but I don't know why the essential employees aren't being paid. They pay them in state government when there is a shutdown.
