Only a fool like Trump thinks this was a good idea.

No one on CD believes that you negotiate with the clown who took everyone in the nation hostage.

Trump needs to re-open and then use his magical negotiating skills to get what he wants done.

Trump has has tough row to how with this one. His base would shriek to high heaven over any compromise the Democrats would go for.

Trump's shakedown only makes sense when you step back and look at it from Putin's point of view.

According to former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss, Pelosi and Schumer are smart to remain calm and steadfast in their refusal to give in to Trump's demands.

"People make their decision over what's the biggest loss."

"Until he's really worried about the loss of his base, he's not going to make a deal."

"They've just decided they're going to have to buckle up, and they're going to have to bear down, and they're going to have to survive this. This is a storm and they've got to ride out the storm. And, I think that's the smartest move."

This is an epic battle over who will control our nation.

Trump backed by Russian oligarch/mobsters and Republican corporate shills?

Or Americans?

The 800,000 working without paychecks know what the stakes are here.

As does everyone on this forum.

Meanwhile government workers may end up defaulting on their mortgage, student loans, or credit cards that they use to "ride out the storm". This is a national disgrace, and both sides are responsible.

Doubtful. Banks want to get paid-not foreclose, so they will extend time to borrowers.

Wrong again. I have relatives in banking who are extending repayment conditions w/o affecting credit ratings. They are NOT reporting the delayed payment.

Now if the govt employee quits, the agreement to extend payment terms would cease if the bank allowed such a grace period.

Have you called the banks to confirm this? Or is this your logic you're applying here? Careful, I know the truth on this matter.
